The Premier League is back after a quick break for the FA Cup, with Gameweek 27 coming up this weekend.
League leaders Arsenal take their title charge across north London to face bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur, having played a game more than everyone else. Manchester City also have a tough game against Newcastle United in their quest for glory. The gameweek ends on Monday as Manchester United travel to face Everton.
Read on for the stats and records you might see this gameweek.
Stats you might see
Aston Villa vs Leeds
- Aston Villa could do the league double over Leeds for just the second time in the Premier League.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are in a bit of a rocky patch of form, with just two wins from their past six matches. But they remain seven points off top spot and look comfortable for Champions League qualification. And they’ll be confident of keeping things up this weekend.
The Villans are unbeaten in all 18 of their Premier League games under promoted sides under Unai Emery, winning 14 and drawing four. One of those wins came against Leeds United earlier this season, a 2-1 win at Elland Road.
Another win at Villa Park would lead Aston Villa to just their second-ever Premier League double over Leeds. The only other instance came in the 1990-00 campaign, with Villa winning 2-1 away and 1-0 at home.
However, Leeds have only lost two Premier League games since the start of December.
Brentford vs Brighton
- James Milner will break the all-time Premier League appearance record if he features against Brentford.
All eyes will be on James Milner this weekend.
The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder has made 653 appearances in the Premier League, the joint-most in the competition’s history. He recently levelled Gareth Barry at the top of the charts.
Should he get even a single minute against Brentford, Milner will take the record outright on 654 Premier League appearances. Interestingly, Milner only ranks 13th of all-time for Premier League minutes. And he’s only averaged 25.2 minutes per appearance this season.
Chelsea vs Burnley
- Chelsea could lose to all three promoted sides in a Premier League season for the first time ever.
With the gap between these two sides in the table, some fans may look at a comfortable win for Chelsea. Liam Rosenior is unbeaten in his five Premier League games since taking charge of Chelsea, only dropping points with a draw against Leeds last time out.
And Chelsea have had problems against the promoted sides so far this season. The Blues have taken just four points from four games against Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley. Three of those did come against Burnley at Turf Moor. But the Blues have also lost against Sunderland and Leeds.
This could be the first time Chelsea have lost against all three promoted sides in a Preimer League season. To add to the fear, seven of Burnley’s eight Premier League points against Chelsea have come at Stamford Bridge — including their only win.
West Ham vs Bournemouth
- Each of the last five Premier League games between West Ham and Bournemouth have been drawn.
Bournemouth have drawn 10 games in the Premier League this season, the joint-most in the division. One of those games came against West Ham United, a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium in November.
And fans should have expected it. West Ham and Bournemouth have drawn each of their past five Premier League games against each other. It’s the longest active run of draws between two sides in the competition. And only three fixtures have finished level at least six times a row in Premier League history.
West Ham are a common denominator there. The Hammers have also drawn six consecutive games against Brighton (between 2019 and 2021) and seven with Aston Villa (between 1998 and 2001).
Man City vs Newcastle
- Newcastle are winless in their past 20 Premier League visits to the Etihad Stadium.
This will be the fourth of at least five meetings between Manchester City and Newcastle United across all competitions this season. Newcastle won the Premier League meeting at St James’ Park, but Man City took the two games in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
Man City will be confident of making it three wins in a row, given their home record against Newcastle. The Citizens are unbeaten in their last 21 Premier League home games against Newcastle, winning 16 in a row. Only Everton vs Fulham have had a longer winning home run in English top-flight history.
Making matters worse for Newcastle, their last away league win against Man City game at Maine Road. Newcastle are winless in their past 20 Premier League away games against Man City since their move to the Etihad. They lost their last league visit to the Etihad 4-0 in February 2025.
Crystal Palace vs Wolves
- Wolves are the only side in England’s top four tiers without an away league win in 2025-26.
Crystal Palace are winless in their last eight Premier League home games. It’s their longest run without victory at Selhurst Park since 1997-98. But they may see that run come to an end this weekend.
Wolverhampton Wanderers aren’t just the worst team in the Premier League. They’re the worst away team in English professional football. That’s 92nd out of 92.
Wolves have taken just four points from their 13 away league games this season. Even Sheffield Wednesday have won seven points from 15 away league games in the Championship. And Wolves are the only side without an away league win in England’s top four tiers.
Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool
- Mo Salah needs one more assist to be Liverpool’s all-time top goal creator in Premier League history.
Mo Salah is back. The Egyptian has scored two goals and provided four assists in his past seven games for Liverpool since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. He set up their only goal in the 1-0 win against Sunderland last time out.
That was Premier League assist number 92 for Salah in a Liverpool shirt. It drew him level with Steven Gerrard at the top of Liverpool’s assist charts in the Premier League. One more assist and he’ll take the record outright.
But, Salah doesn’t like to play at the City Ground. He has failed to be directly involved in a goal in his two Premier League away games against Nottingham Forest.
Sunderland vs Fulham
- Fulham are one of just three teams still without a goalless draw in the Premier League this season.
This may not be a fixture for goals. But it could be one for goal.
Sunderland have only failed to score in two of their 13 Premier League home games this season. One of those did come last time out in a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool. Man City are the only other side to stop Sunderland scoring at the Stadium of Light. That’s not anything to be ashamed of. The Black Cats even put two past Arsenal, who boast the best defence in the Premier League.
On the other side of this matchup, Fulham haven’t kept a clean sheet in their past eight games. It’s the joint-longest active run in the Premier League for a team without clean sheets. And Fulham are yet to be involved in a goalless draw in the league this season. Sunderland, for what it’s worth, have only been involved in three.
Tottenham vs Arsenal
- Mikel Arteta has the best win rate in Premier League London derbies of any manager to have taken charge of at least 20 such games.
Mikel Arteta already sits among a list of greats when it comes to Premier League London derbies. The Arsenal boss has won 41 Premier League London derbies so far, with only Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger winning more.
But Mourinho only won 42, so Arteta could equal him with victory over Tottenham this weekend. Wenger’s 106 wins may take a bit more time for Arteta to beat.
Arteta is untouchable in another way though. With 41 wins in 68 Premier League London derbies as a manager, Arteta has won 60.3% of his local rivalries. That’s the best win rate of any manager to have taken charge of at least 20 Premier League London derbies.
Everton vs Man Utd
- Everton are looking to complete a Premier League double over Man Utd for just the second time.
The previous between between these two sides at Old Trafford brought a surprise result. Everton took a 1-0 win despite going down to 10 men early in the first half after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for slapping teammate Michael Keane.
It ended a 12-year wait for Everton for a Premier League win at Old Trafford. That was also a 1-0 victory in a game with David Moyes in charge. But Moyes led the Red Devils on that occasion.
After winning at Old Trafford in December 2013, Everton then beat Man Utd at Goodison Park in April 2014 to seal their first ever Premier League double in this fixture. That was also their last.
But Man Utd have won 42 games against Everton in the Premier League, the most dominant one side has been over another in the competition’s history.
