Man Utd Squawka Score Ratings 2026/27
Michael Carrick’s first full season has begun unevenly. United were beaten 2-0 at Hull on the opening weekend, then put five past Ipswich, drew 2-2 at Everton, lost the derby 1-0 to Manchester City and drew 1-1 at Fulham. Five points from five leaves them 12th going into the international break, with a goal difference of exactly zero. Below, we take a look at United’s most-used XI so far and how each player has performed, based on the Squawka Score rating system.
The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance relative to other players in the same position. It is shown as a percentage, and it is worth knowing that 66% is average rather than 50% – a 70% is a good afternoon and 85% or above marks out one of the best players on the pitch. Each score is calculated from a range of per-90-minute statistics, taking in the obvious numbers such as goals and assists alongside some more obscure ones that are far more position-specific. A player’s season figure is simply the average of his match ratings.

GK: Senne Lammens – 62% – Sixteen saves and eight goals conceded from five full games, without a clean sheet. No errors charged against the Belgian, but his distribution is the most conservative of any goalkeeper in the league: one pass into the final third in five matches.
RB: Diogo Dalot – 64% – Eight chances created and eight shots from right-back is an aggressive return, with 16 passes into the penalty area. The defensive side is where it costs: 17 duels lost to 15 won, six fouls and an error leading to a shot.
RCB: Harry Maguire – 68% – Every minute played and the pick of the back four. Twenty-seven duels won to 14 lost, 17 aerials, 20 clearances and 35 progressive passes, plus 0.58 xA from set-piece deliveries. Seven fouls and two yellows are the only real marks against him.
LCB: Lisandro Martínez – 59% – The lowest rating in the side. Thirty-seven progressive passes is a fine number for a centre-back, but 12 duels won to 11 lost is modest and an error leading to a goal has proved expensive in a season of tight margins.
LB: Luke Shaw – 68% – An assist, five chances created and 0.61 xA from left-back, with 55 passes into the final third and 16 into the penalty area. Twelve duels won to nine lost and six interceptions show the defending has held up too. A good, fit start.
RCM: Youri Tielemans – 73% – A superb metronome. His 110 passes into the final third are the most of any player in the Premier League, alongside seven chances created, 21 duels won and seven interceptions. One foul in five games underlines how rarely he needs to stop anybody illegally.
LCM: Kobbie Mainoo – 76% – The best midfield return at the club. Eighty-one passes into the final third, 23 duels won, 10 completed take-ons and 22 possessions regained in the middle third from four starts, plus an assist. Mainoo has looked like a player who has settled the position.
RW: Bryan Mbeumo – 70% – Two goals from 19 shots and 2.08 xG, with 10 chances created, 30 passes into the penalty area and 28 touches in the opposition box. Four big chances missed and 38 duels lost are the reasons this is not higher still, but the threat has been constant.
AM: Bruno Fernandes – 78% – United’s highest-rated player, and by some distance their most important. Three goals and an assist from 19 shots, 13 chances created, 2.25 xG and 1.03 xA, and an extraordinary 68 passes into the penalty area and 122 into the final third – both league highs. He has also taken 23 corners and scored the only penalty.
LW: Marcus Rashford – 69% – Thirteen chances created, 1.19 xA, 33 touches in the opposition box and eight completed take-ons, all from four starts. The only thing missing is the finish: 13 shots and 1.15 xG have brought nothing, and two big chances have gone begging.
ST: Matheus Cunha – 67% – A goal and an assist, but the real number is 1.46 xA, the highest at the club, from eight chances created including three clear-cut. Cunha has been more of a creator than a finisher, with just 0.62 xG from 13 shots, which is not quite what United signed him to do.
Man Utd set-piece specialists:
- Penalties: Bruno Fernandes
- Free-kicks: Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes
- Corners: Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo
Fernandes has taken 23 of United’s corners to Mbeumo’s 12, with Matheus Cunha taking one. Rashford has had two of the three direct free-kicks and Fernandes the other. Fernandes has converted United’s only penalty, so there is no doubt about the hierarchy.
