Of course, PSG are the favourites for the Ligue 1 title again this season – despite some changes in personnel. Lionel Messi and Neymar are no longer with the club, while Marco Verratti is now plying his trade in Qatar with Al-Arabi. les Parisiens have added more quality to their ranks however with the acquisitions of Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani, Manuel Ugarte and Lucas Hernandez and the rest of the French top tier is such that they remain comfortable odds-on favourites for the title this year.

After a mixed start, PSG currently sit four points clear at the top of the table after going on a seven game winning run and scoring 3+ goals in six of those seven matches.

Just behind them in second are Nice, who after going their opening 13 matches unbeaten and keeping eight consecutive clean sheets, finally fell to their first loss of the season with a 1-0 defeat to Nantes last time out.

Joining Nice and PSG in the top three are AS Monaco, who sit one point clear of Lille in fourth.

Who will make the Champions League?

Joining PSG and Lens in the Champions League this season are Marseille who finished third behind the two Northern sides. However, Les Phoceens had a poor start to the campaign, picking up just three wins from their opening 10 matches.

Things have picked up recently however, recording back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Lens were overachievers in finishing as runners-up last term and although they’re expected to be pushing towards the top end of the table this term, they aren’t the favourites for a top-three finish this time around.

Despite a victory over Arsenal in the Champions League, they had found domestic football a lot tougher so far this campaign, having lost four of their opening five matches. However, four wins and two draws from their last six games have moved them up to 6th and back in contention.

Who will be relegated from Ligue 1?

It was a nervy season for many clubs last time out as no fewer than four clubs were relegated from Ligue 1 with only two being promoted from the second tier as the FFA decided to reduce the amount of teams competing in the competition as of this campaign.

The two teams to be promoted – Le Havre and Metz – are expecting to be among the teams that struggle to stay up this season while Brest, Nantes, Lorient and Clermont Foot are all much more likely to be finishing in the bottom three than the top three come May.

Surprisingly, it’s Lyon who currently sit bottom on seven points after winning just one of their opening 18 matches.

Regardless of what your original punt was, you’ll still have the opportunity to emerge with cash in hand across whichever game — or games if you’re using the Ligue 1 acca — you’ve been keeping an eye on.

So, as the odds fluctuate across the matches, you’ll be in the best possible position to make the most of the Ligue 1 odds on show from bookmakers like bet365.

Full-time results

Perhaps one of the most popular online betting markets, if you’re looking for a sure-fire wager to put those Ligue 1 tips to use, is the full-time result.

Though each game differs from odds to form, individual talent and injury crisis, as long as you clue up with our predictive previews, you’ll have the chance to secure yourself some quick wins.

To score and win tips

Here’s a double-win for you: bet on the team you think will win and score and claim some of the best Ligue 1 free bets going around.

For this particular wager, you’ll want to focus on the big guns, the teams that won’t let you down: PSG, Marseille and the like.

Then all you need to do is sit back and watch the goals and points rake in.

Both teams to score

Both teams need to score either within the 90 minutes or after extra time, including penalty permutations, regardless of the final result, for you to land a BTTS bet.

One team you’ll definitely one to keep an eye on this season is Strasbourg – no fewer than 71% of their matches saw both teams find the net last season!

Penalty specialists

This one is just as easy as the BTTS wager, and definitely, a market that you’ll want to delve into with the Ligue 1 betting tips on hand.

All you have to do is decide whether or not you think the game will feature a penalty.

To score a header

If the goal scored is via the player’s head then this bet is an eligible one to dive into.

Fortunately, across Ligue 1 there are plenty of individuals capable of doing so, which makes the odds of a headed goal going in every weekend wager-worthy.

Player total shots

Fans of attackers, assemble – this particular market leans heavily on strikers and the French cohort have plenty to offer on the betting front.

Player total tackles

If you’re looking to wager on all things defence, look no further. Squawka Bet are offering exactly that in the form of the ‘player total tackles’ market.

If recent events have taught us anything, it’s that Ligue 1 is a feisty and simmering affair, capable of providing all the drama, and in some cases, all the cards.

Players offside

A more lucrative market to put those Ligue 1 tips to use, offsides have been a problem for managers across the globe since the dawn of time — or the inception of football.

Fortunately, you’ll now be able to punt on it and finally cash in on that middle-toe, armpit offside call instead of raging at the TV, even if it is your team involved.

A nice change of pace if you ask us.

Corners taken

This particular market involves an over/under tally to choose from and could make a great addition to any Ligue 1 betting accumulators.

You’ll want to make sure you read our predictive betting previews before you take a stab in the dark — we’ll ensure you’ve got the right data to emerge with cash in hand on the total number of corners notched up in any game across the 2023/24 season.

Ligue 1 VAR specials

We all know what Ligue 1 think of VAR – *cue the boos*. However, despite the negativity towards it, there’s still plenty to make use of in the Ligue 1 betting markets.

Whether it’s another Neymar goal ruled offside, or another red-card-fest between the Brazilian and practically the rest of the league, where VAR is concerned, there’ll be plenty to wager on.

So, keep your eyes peeled as the season continues to unfold and provide us with plenty of action and intrigue.

This weekend’s Ligue 1 predictions

There’s still plenty to notch up on the old betting belt when it comes to Ligue 1 tips and predictions. That is why we’ve added a few extra markets and points to keep an eye out for. So, without further ado…

Price boosts

Ligue 1 price boosts may be few and far between, but we’re still offering them across the big games of the season.

Expect this to be featured across all the PSG, Lyon and Marseille games — especially when they all face off — alongside the derbies too.

From Le Classique to the Marseille/Monaco face-off, expect the biggest price boosts through Squawka Bet services.

Ligue 1 accumulators

If you’re looking to get in on the Ligue 1 accumulator action, you’ll want to do it quickly before the schedule starts to pick up speed.

Fortunately, this will give you a few perks to your betting experience, alongside tailoring your bets to the unfolding action across a selection of weekend games.

It’ll also mean that you can take a pick of different markets, from BTTS to first scorer and the final scoreline.

The final result? You’ll have a boosted chance of emerging with cash in hand.
