When do you release your football tips?

Every day of every week we have our expert team working towards the upcoming fixtures, bringing you specific tips for every match from our selected leagues and competitions including the Premier League, Championship, Champions League, La Liga and the Bundesliga amongst others. You will find these in the top menu and we look to post our match tips up to 48 hours before the games kick-off.

We will also be looking to bring you our accumulator tips on a daily basis, posting these tips at least a day before the matches to give you time to add the selections to your bet slip and place your bet (if you like the look of the tip that is!).

And the tips don’t end there, either. Our match previews, powered by the all-knowing Squawka team, combine the best Opta stats with our knowledge of the leagues to bring you the best in-depth betting coverage on the market and we also look to get these live at least 48 hours before kick-off, although that is subject to change dependent on fixture congestion and other factors.

Tips for Successful Football Betting

It couldn’t be easier to bet on football. You simply take your pick of the football game at the site of your betting provider, be that Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich or Swindon Town vs Exeter City. You can then scan through the various betting markets with their many odds, ranging from the number of goals scored in the game to the time of the first goal. Once you’ve selected your chosen market and football betting tips, from there on, you simply process the punt and sit back and wait as the action unfolds.

Today’s football betting tips

Alongside the usual tips and predictions, you’ll also get to take your pick of the best football betting offers every day. We have those new customer offers rolled out for you whenever they’re available alongside In-Play offers, all customer price boosts and plenty more from the likes of bet365 and LiveScore Bet

Our tips for the biggest matches of the day are available in the headline section at the top of this page, and on the homepage to find much more, you just need to navigate to one of the separate league pages or the accumulator page to find the specific bet that you’re looking for.

In-Play football tips

In-Play betting has become a phenomenon in recent years and given the popularity that it had with punters when it was first rolled out among apps and online football betting sites (having long been an option via telephone), it’s unsurprising to see that almost every firm now has In-Play functionality within their sportsbook offerings.

This type of wagering allows you to decide upon your bets dependent on the unfolding action, whether that’s a cup final between two European giants or a tussle at the bottom of the table in one of the lower leagues. For our tips, it’s difficult to post them on site due to the timing of matches, but you can follow us on Twitter for the best live tweets, stats, reactions and most importantly In-Play tips as the fixtures unfold.

Full-time results

The most popular bet in any league and with any sportsbook is betting on the full-time result. This is as simple as betting on which team you expect to win the game – or indeed on the draw if that’s the final outcome of the game that you’re expecting.

These are the bets we mostly tend to use in our accumulators too, combining four or more of our full-time result betting tips for bigger returns.

Correct score

Of course, you don’t just have to bet on the outcome of a particular game (results wise that is), you can also have a punt on the exact scoreline. From a 6-0 drubbing to a goalless stalemate, the option’s yours if you fancy your chances at predicting the final score.

Both Teams to Score

Both teams to score bets are almost as popular as full-time result bets nowadays, given that it is a very simple market to bet on with shorter odds and thus they also prove particularly popular with accumulators and multiple backers.

You’re simply betting on both teams to find the net over the course of the 90 minutes with this bet and that can prove to be more of a popular bet than a match result bet as the hopes of it being successful can remain alive until the final kick of the match.

Over/Under Goals Bets

The over/under goals betting market allows punters to bet on whether both teams will score more or less of a specified number of goals in a game. The market is in intervals of 0.5 to ensure all bets are settled.

Example: The 2.5 goals margin is the most popular specified number of goals in this market. If both teams score a total of 2 goals or less the bet is lost. If both teams score a total of 3 goals or more, the bet is settled as a win.

Bookings

That Over/Under style of betting (as mentioned above) is worth remembering, as it is also the way that many other markets are offered including a number of total bookings in a match – be that in total or on a specific team. Everton have the most bookings in the Premier League this season for example (64), so you could bet on them to receive over a certain number of cards in a specific match, if you are so inclined.

There are other markets when it comes to betting on bookings in a game too and you can bet on which side will receive the most bookings, if there will be a red card in the match and with some bookmakers you can even bet on specific players to be shown a card during the match. Step forward Ashley Young, who is the current Premier League player with the highest amount of cards in their career so far with 79 to his name. You can find these kinds of odds on bookmakers such as Ladbrokes and Sky Bet.

Corners Taken

You can also bet on Under/Over markets in corners in 2022/2023 and also on the ‘Corners Match Result’ market, where you bet on one team to win more corners than the other during the match. Newcastle United topped the charts in the Premier League in 2022/23, whilst Bayern Munich were the team to watch in these markets over in the Bundesliga.

Goalscorer

There are plenty of ‘goalscorer’ markets also available if you fancy a particular team or player to net that day. For player-specific odds, most bookmakers offer a ‘first goalscorer’, ‘anytime goalscorer’ or ‘last goalscorer’ market, which could be particularly useful if a player is facing a certain club. Harry Kane has scored 20 goals in 20 games against Leicester City during his career, so you may fancy his chances against The Foxes. Didier Drogba was also famously clinical against Arsenal, while Wayne Rooney loved playing against West Ham.

Evaluating Key Factors in Football Matches  – Tips From Squawka Experts

Home advantage

There are so many factors to consider when placing a football bet, but one of the most important ones is ‘home advantage’. Clubs tend to perform better on familiar soil, just look at Liverpool’s incredible run of 68 games unbeaten in the Premier League between 2017 and 2021. So before placing a bet, just be mindful of which club is at home, and whether the visiting team has a particularly good record on the road.

Head-to-head record

Another point to remember is head-to-head records between clubs. Some teams just have ill-luck and misfortune against other teams, for whatever reason, be it tactical, psychological or Lady Luck just doesn’t fancy them. West Ham, for example, are winless against Brighton since The Seagulls returned to the Premier League in 2017. That’s a staggering 12 games! Now that’s a bogey team and a half.

Team form

Football has always been a confidence sport, and when the chips are really down, clubs have a tendency to tailspin. So, it’s always worth checking the form of clubs heading into important match-ups. The league table can be deceptive at times. If a club had a particularly poor start to the season, but have won five on the trot under a new manager, the table may not reflect that upturn in fortune just yet. So always consider the last five games as a standard measuring yard.

Team news & injuries

Some players really do just make all the difference. It is always within your interest to check the team news before placing a bet. Some managers are coy in press conferences and bookies may not always be so quick to read between the lines, so make sure your injury information is up to date and from a reliable source. Clubs like Crystal Palace and Leicester City tend to perform way below their usual standards without Wilfried Zaha and James Maddison respectively, so make sure the key men are fit, and if not, you may fancy the other team.

Unfamiliar leagues

Before placing a bet, you need to consider whether you’re actually familiar with what you’re betting on. It’s all well a good predicting PSG to ‘win to nil’ against Lens back in January, but you may have reconsidered that particular bet if you knew how good The Blood and Gold have been this season. Lens went on to win 3-1 in that Ligue 1 match, and it wasn’t as great a shock as many would have thought before the season. So, understand the league you’re betting on for the greatest chance of success.

Overvaluing favourites

The above pitfall falls into this category as well. Odds for ‘favourites’ will naturally be shorter, but we don’t exactly have ‘Invincible’ clubs (those who go unbeaten across the entire season) popping up every year. Defeats are a natural part of the sport, so never overvalue a favourite, even PSG or Man City.

What Is a Bet Builder?

Bet Builders are a fairly recent but very popular phenomenon where some bookmakers allow you the chance to customise your own bet slips on specific matches. In essence, they give punters the chance to create their own accumulators within a single match while using a variety of markets. Punters can personalise their bet slips by picking a number of selections on a specific event, with the odds then getting boosted by every addition. Betfair have a particularly good ‘Bet Builder’ option, where you can select any number of the markets we mentioned in the ‘How to bet on football’ section of this page, and create your own customisable accumulator. You could select the ‘correct score’, ‘first goalscorer’, ‘over x bookings’, ‘under x goals’ and ‘BTTS’ if you so fancy on a single game.

Weekend football tips & predictions – Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Although this season in particular there are more midweek matches than ever with domestic leagues looking to squeeze the fixtures in and the usual Champions League and Europa League tournaments to complete, the weekend is when the football schedule really comes alive and as always, we have you covered here at Squawka Bet.

Whether you’re looking for a tip on every match from each of the top leagues in Europe and the UK, an accumulator bet across a few different matches or our hand-picked tips from the biggest games in the Premier League and beyond, we’ve got your back with a range of different betting selections across every weekend.

Football betting odds

For the betting novices amongst you, the odds represent the price available on a bet, giving you the chance to work out how much your bet will return depending on your stake.

There are different types of odds available, but the ones that you will find on this site due to us being based in the UK are fractional odds. The chances of your bet coming in are calculated by these odds, with the number on the first side of the fraction being the returns you receive per bet. As such, odds of 10/1 would see £110 returned for every £10 staked – plus your £10 stake, meaning a total of £110 comes back to you.

The other two most popular forms of odds are American and Decimal and with most bookmakers you are able to select the odds to the style you find easiest to understand and operate with.

Football price boosts and enhanced odds

Most bookmakers will offer weekly or even daily price boosts, giving punters the chance to get even larger returns than the original odds on their bets. We’ll try to keep you up to date with those too when some come along that take our fancy. These go hand-in-hand with the options that plenty of bookmakers now have for customers to build and request their own bets combining different selections from the same games.

You will also find plenty of new customer offers and enhanced odds on this site. These can offer massively enhanced odds with smaller limits on stakes, but they can often be a great way to get your account up and running and some bookmakers will offer the chance to get free bets on eight different fixtures for example over the course of the weekend as a bonus upon opening your account, so keep checking back!

Finding Value in Football Betting

With data and statistics becoming such a big part of the modern game, it can be a tad overwhelming knowing which markets to bet on — and where the best value is. That’s why it’s always important to compare odds among different bookmakers, particularly for the more niche markets, such as corners, cards and so on. Our experts find some of the best football tips here, regularly comparing odds across bookies, but there is no harm in exploring the market yourself. To maximise your football betting predictions, we recommend for you to see what other offers are on the market. If you’re unsure about certain bookmakers, we have an up-to-date list here of the best ones in the UK, including their welcome offers for new customers.
