Brentford Squawka Score ratings 2026/27
Keith Andrews has Brentford unbeaten and fourth going into the international break. They opened with a 3-0 win over Tottenham and closed the run with a 3-0 win over Chelsea, drawing at Leeds and at Bournemouth and with Sunderland in between. Ten goals scored and four conceded is the best attacking return outside the top three. Below, we take a look at Brentford’s most-used XI so far and how each player has performed, based on the Squawka Score rating system.
The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance relative to other players in the same position. It is shown as a percentage, and it is worth knowing that 66% is average rather than 50% – a 70% is a good afternoon and 85% or above marks out one of the best players on the pitch. Each score is calculated from a range of per-90-minute statistics, taking in the obvious numbers such as goals and assists alongside some more obscure ones that are far more position-specific. A player’s season figure is simply the average of his match ratings.

GK: Caoimhín Kelleher – 72% – A strong start from the goalkeeper. Seventeen saves, four goals conceded and two clean sheets in five full games, with four completed sweeper actions and 27 progressive passes. No errors charged against him, and only three goalkeepers in the division are rating higher.
RB: Michael Kayode – 66% – A goal and 21 passes into the penalty area from four starts, so the attacking side has been productive. The defending is more mixed: seven occasions beaten one-on-one against six interceptions and two tackles won.
RCB: Kristoffer Ajer – 62% – Thirty-seven clearances and 20 aerial duels won, both club-leading figures, from every available minute. The rating sits below the average because there is so little else – one tackle won in five games and next to nothing on the ball beyond 20 progressive passes.
LCB: Nathan Collins – 65% – Three starts for the captain, with 13 clearances and 11 duels won to nine lost. He has also had five shots from set pieces for 0.42 xG. A modest sample, and a marked improvement on the 56% he managed across the whole of last season.
LB: Keane Lewis-Potter – 67% – A goal, an assist and seven chances created from left-back, with 29 passes into the penalty area and 1.05 xG of his own. Thirty duels lost and nine fouls are the costs of how far forward he plays, but the end product justifies it.
RCM: Mamadou Sangaré – 69% – An assist, seven tackles won and 29 duels won from four starts, along with six completed take-ons from deep. Nine fouls is a lot for the minutes played, but this has been an assured introduction to the Premier League.
LCM: Vitaly Janelt – 70% – Two goals, 16 interceptions and 10 tackles won, all of them club-leading numbers, from every available minute. He has also taken eight corners. Three yellow cards and nine fouls are the price of how much ground he covers.
RW: Jaidon Anthony – 62% – A goal and seven chances created in three starts, so the raw creativity is there. Twenty-two duels lost against 14 won, and only four completed take-ons, points to a winger who has not yet found a way past his full-back consistently.
AM: Mikkel Damsgaard – 77% – Brentford’s highest-rated player and a transformed one. From 61% across the whole of last season to 77% now, built on 1.24 xA, seven chances created with two clear-cut, and 29 passes into the penalty area in only three starts. He also takes the corners.
LW: Kevin Schade – 70% – Three goals from 13 shots with six on target, 27 touches in the opposition box and 22 passes into the penalty area. He has won 34 duels, the most of any Brentford player, and has not picked up a booking. The most consistent attacking threat in the side.
ST: Igor Thiago – 63% – One goal from 13 shots and 2.55 xG, the highest expected total at the club, with four big chances missed. He is getting into the right positions – 23 touches in the opposition box says so – but 44 duels lost and a single goal make this a lean start for last season’s 20-goal striker.
Brentford set-piece specialists:
- Penalties: Igor Thiago
- Free-kicks: Mathias Jensen
- Corners: Mikkel Damsgaard, Vitaly Janelt
Damsgaard has taken 10 of Brentford’s corners to Janelt’s eight, with Keane Lewis-Potter on two and Mathias Jensen and Fábio Carvalho one apiece. Jensen has had the only direct free-kick. Brentford are yet to be awarded a penalty, so Thiago’s status as the taker carries over from last season.
