Newcastle Squawka Score ratings 2025-26
The 2025-26 Premier League season is over, meaning we’ve taken a look at Newcastle’s most-used XI from the season below and how the players have managed to perform, according to the Squawka Score rating system.
The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance related to other players in the same position. It’s a percentage rating from 0 to 100, calculated based on various per 90-minute statistics, including the obvious stats such as goals and assists, but also some more obscure ones that are more position specific.

GK: Nick Pope – 53% – Pope saw his stock drop last season. The Englishman ranked poorly for his goals prevented per 90 minutes, while also not faring much better for general save numbers. Pope didn’t score well for his passing, either.
RB: Kieran Trippier – 54% – Trippier ranked in the 95th percentile for his completed passes into the final third and successful passes into the penalty area. But he did lack in the more defensive metrics, proving far too easy to beat.
CB: Malick Thiaw – 63% – Thiaw performed well in his aerial duels, both in term of numbers won per 90 and his success rate. Thiaw was also a more than capable passer and cleared a lot of danger from the edge of his own area.
CB: Sven Botman – 61% – Although Botman isn’t as strong in the duel as his partner, he ranked well for his clearances per 90 and possessions won in the defensive third.
LB: Lewis Hall – 60% – Hall sat inside the top 10 left-backs in the Premier League for last season. He also ranked in the 80-95th percentile among full-backs for his ground duel success rate, and clearances. At the other end of the pitch, Hall ranked in the 95th percentile and above for passes into the final third completed, and also scored well for successful passes into the penalty area.
RCM: Bruno Guimaraes – 79% – Guimaraes was considered the best central midfielder in the Premier League last season in terms of his Squawka Score. The Brazilian was strong at winning the ball back, both in terms of tackles won and possessions won in the attacking third. He was also heavily involved in attacks too, sitting in the 95th percentile and above for success passes into the penalty area per 90.
DM: Sandro Tonali – 58% – As he doesn’t have to do too much tackling in the Newcastle midfield, Tonali scored slightly lower as a No.6, but that doesn’t mean he’s poor. The Italian looked good when trying to push Newcastle up the pitch.
LCM: Joelinton – 64% – Joelinton saw his Score affected by not playing a traditional No.8 role last season. The Brazilian ranked poorly for tackles won, but saw an improvement in his interception numbers. Joelinton’s forward passing accuracy was okay, even if the frequency of his forward passes wasn’t great.
RW: Anthony Elanga – 53% – Elanga scored okay for crosses completed, open-play crosses completed and penalty area entries.
ST: Nick Woltemade – 58% – The only metric Woltemade stood out in was lay off passes completed, sitting average for stats such as shot accuracy, non-penalty Expected Goals and touches in the opposition box.
LW: Harvey Barnes – 59% – Barnes’ output of seven goals and one assist was far from exceptional, however, his open-play crosses and dribbles completed per 90 were two distinct qualities he ranked well for.
