The Squawka tipsters adore the German football league, Bundesliga, filled with hard-hitting teams such as Bayern and Dortmund. Our tipsters follow, pour-over and analyse countless pieces of data surrounding the league, all to offer up the best betting tips for German football. With an exciting season underway, bettors can find plenty of boosted bets in UK bookmakers with countless offers and promotions to match. The 2022/23 Bundesliga season is about to return from its World Cup and winter break and Bayern Munich are, once again, searching for the title.
It’s the 10th consecutive season in which Bayern are looking to defend their crown, already an unprecedented feat across Europe’s top five divisions. Bayern haven’t been more dominant in Germany either, with their previous best title streaks lasting just three seasons.
Who will win the Bundesliga title?
For some neutral fans, the Bundesliga isn’t an exciting league given how many times Bayern Munich have won the title. But not every Bayern title win is a commanding one, and they are prone to a slip at some point in the season.
That’s exactly what has happened at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. Bayern went into the first international break of the season in fifth, five points behind early leaders Union Berlin.
But as Bayern do, they fought back and entered the World Cup break four points clear at the top of the table, wrestling first place from Freiburg who had faltered. But second-placed Freiburg aren’t even second-favourites to win the league, that honour belongs to RB Leipzig who currently sit third.

Who will finish in the Bundesliga top four?
RB Leipzig are six points behind Bayern Munich and are more likely to be involved in the race for the top four, which is quite tight. Just three points separate RB Leipzig and sixth-placed Borussia Dortmund, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Union Berlin also involved.
It’s not been the greatest of seasons so far for Dortmund, with six defeats the joint-most in the top half of the table. And it’s the defeats that have been (naturally) letting Dortmund down, with only Freiburg and Bayern winning more than their eight in the Bundesliga. Dortmund went into the World Cup break off the back of two defeats, losing to Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach, who sit seventh and eighth respectively.
Who will be relegated from the Bundesliga?
Unlike the rest of Europe’s top five leagues, the Bundesliga consists of just 18 teams, and that affects how many automatically get relegated. Like France, the bottom two are automatically relegated to the 2. Bundesliga but the 16th-placed side have a second chance in the relegation play-offs. At the end of last season, Greuther Furth and Arminia Bielefeld said goodbye to the top flight but Hertha Berlin saved their spot by beating Hamburg 2-1 in the play-offs.
The two new faces in the Bundesliga this season are two old faces, with Schalke and Werder Bremen ending their brief Bundesliga exiles. Out for just one year, Werder Bremen will still hold the record for most Bundesliga seasons – level with Bayern Munich on 58.
While Werder Bremen have earned 21 points from their opening 15 games, Schalke are sitting bottom with nine points. They are joined in the relegation zone by Bochum who have opened up a four-point gap thanks to back-to-back wins pre-World Cup.
Stuttgart currently occupy the relegation play-off spot but are only behind 15th-placed Hertha Berlin on goal difference.
