The 2024-25 Premier League season is over.
Liverpool ran away with the title, with Mohamed Salah finishing top of the Golden Boot and Playmaker Award standings. The Egyptian was also named Premier League Player of the Season.
But who were the best players of the campaign for each team throughout the 2024-25 season? We’ve used our Squawka Score to scour all clubs and all positions, from top to 20th, goalkeeper to striker, to find out.
Arsenal: Bukayo Saka
Squawka Score: 77%
There may be some questions on what could have been for Arsenal, had Bukayo Saka not missed a significant part of the season due to injury. Even with that time out, Saka was the Gunners’ best player for 2024-25. His 0.47 intentional assists per 90 minutes was the best return in the Premier League among wingers with at least 50% of minutes played. It’s a similar story for Saka’s 1.09 big chances created. He also sat in the 95th percentile and above among wingers for his 9.39 touches in the opposition box per 90.
Aston Villa: Ollie Watkins
Squawka Score: 64%
Ollie Watkins was directly involved in 24 goals for Aston Villa in 2024-25, enough for him to be their best player. Those goals came at an average of 0.55 per 90, from 0.45 non-penalty Expected Goals and 1.9 non-penalty shots per 90. Watkins had 6.28 touches in the opposition box per and also registered 0.24 intentional assists per 90.
Brentford: Bryan Mbeumo
Squawka Score: 76%
Bryan Mbeumo was the man for Brentford in attack, particularly when it came to his 0.53 goals per 90 — for someone playing on the wing. Mbeumo was a solid goal threat in general, averaging 1.08 shots on target and 0.3 non-penalty post-shot xG per 90. All this, despite only having 4.66 touches in the opposition box. A note on his finishing, Mbeumo overperformed against his xG by 0.21 per 90.
Brighton: Yankuba Minteh
Squawka Score: 72%
Brighton and Hove Albion were a generally good side without any standout stars in 2024-25. But Yankuba Minteh was the man to come out on top. Minteh played across the right flank for Brighton, popping up most as a winger. There he averaged 0.29 goals per 90 and 0.2 intentional assists, alongside 0.39 big chances created. Minteh also had 8.07 touches in the opposition box and won 1.71 tackles, both placing him in the 95th percentile and above among wingers.
Bournemouth: Dango Ouattara
Squawka Score: 71%
Dango Ouattara played in a few positions for Bournemouth across the season, filling in for injuries. And he was a reliable man. The Burkinabe forward averaged 0.31 goals per 90 in the league from just 0.9 shots on target, with 0.42 non-penalty post-shot xG. Ouattara also averaged 6.28 touches in the opposition box per 90 and 1.17 possessions won in the attacking third, in the 80-95th percentile among wingers for both.
Chelsea: Cole Palmer
Squawka Score: 76%
Cole Palmer endured a bit of a rough patch to end 2024-25, but he was still Chelsea‘s best player. His 0.42 goals per 90 and 0.68 big chances created per 90 ranked him well among attacking players. Palmer also ranked in the 95th percentile and above for his1.44 shots on target and 3.55 shots per 90.
Crystal Palace: Daniel Munoz
Squawka Score: 74%
For a lot of the season — before their eyes were firmly set on winning the FA Cup — Crystal Palace had one of the best defences in the Premier League. So it makes sense that their best player is a defender. Daniel Munoz takes the crown, thanks to his good performances both in defence and attack. Munoz averaged 2.23 tackles won per 90 in the league, placing him in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs. He also ranked respectably for clearances at 2.62 per 90. At the other end, Munoz had 3.12 touches in the opposition box per 90 and 0.5 shots on target.
Everton: Jordan Pickford
Squawka Score: 71%
Jordan Pickford was the best-performing goalkeeper in the Premier League in 2024-45. The Englishman was also Everton‘s best player with a Squawka Score of 71%. He averaged 0.19 goals prevented per 90 and 3.21 saves, with 2.08 of those coming from shots inside the box. Pickford also kept 12 clean sheets, with only two goalkeepers managing more.
Fulham: Kenny Tete
Squawka Score: 72%
Kenny Tete just about made the cut for playing 50% of the season, missing a chunk due to injury. But during his time on the pitch, Tete ranks as Fulham‘s best player in 2024-25. The right-back averaged 1.92 tackles won per 90 in the Premier League, with 3.14 clearances — the latter placing him in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs. The Dutchman also blocked 0.61 shots per 90.
Ipswich: Liam Delap
Squawka Score: 62%
He may be the best of a bad bunch at Ipswich Town, but Liam Delap still posted a good Squawka Score of 62%. He averaged 0.41 goals per 90 in the league despite his low non-penalty xG of 0.3. Delap did rank well for being fouled in the final third at 0.59 per 90, with two penalties won in total.

Leicester: Mads Hermansen
Squawka Score: 63%
Leicester City were pretty terrible in the Premier League in 2024-25, returning immediately to the Championship. But Mads Hermansen tried his best to prevent that. The Dane averaged 3.89 saves per 90 across the season, despite a save percentage of 63.58%. Of those 3.89 saves, 2.79 came from shots inside the box. It could be argued that Leicester would have been relegated a lot earlier than they were, were it not for Hermansen.
Liverpool: Mo Salah
Squawka Score: 82%
It should be no surprise that Salah was Liverpool’s best player. In fact, was the best player in the Premier League overall, again which shouldn’t be a surprise. The Egyptian averaged 0.77 goals and 0.45 intentional assists per 90, leading the Premier League in both outright metrics. He also ranked in the 95th percentile and above among wingers for big chances created (0.72), shots on target (1.63), non-penalty post-shot xG (0.52) and touches in the opposition box (10.5) per 90. We could list even more, but we don’t want to turn this into a dissertation.
Man City: Erling Haaland
Squawka Score: 77%
He may not have won the Golden Boot for the first time but Erling Haaland still had a strong season. And he was Manchester City‘s best player. Haaland averaged 0.72 goals per 90 in the league from 0.61 non-penalty xG and 0.72 non-penalty post-shot xG per 90. The Norwegian sat in the 80-95th percentile and above among strikers for goals from open play at 0.62, while also hitting the target with 55.56% of his shots.
Man Utd: Amad Diallo
Squawka Score: 73%
Amad Diallo’s long-term injury was a big blow for Manchester United, but he finished the campaign as their best player. This was helped by Bruno Fernandes not sticking to one position. But that’s not to take anything away from Diallo. The Ivorian was fantastic for Man Utd, particularly under Ruben Amorim. He averaged 0.24 intentional assists per 90, which goes a little bit further to highlight a player’s creativity. Diallo also took 7.2 touches in the opposition box per 90 and won possession 1.37 times per 90 in the attacking third.
Newcastle: Alexander Isak
Squawka Score: 81%
Alexander Isak was the best striker in the Premier League, so it makes sense that he was also Newcastle United‘s leading man. The Swedish star averaged 0.75 goals per 90 in the league, from 0.61 non-penalty xG and 0.56 non-penalty post-shot xG. Although that means his shot placement ratio is just below 1.0, that won’t take away from Isak’s finishing ability. Nor will Newcastle fans care.
Nottingham Forest: Nikola Milenkovic
Squawka Score: 72%
Nikola Milenkovic will surely go down as one of the signings of the season. He was fantastic for Nottingham Forest this season, and their best player, which is impressive considering how well they played. Milenkovic won 71.63% of his aerial duels and 67.86% of his ground duels, losing just 0.19 challenges per 90. He averaged 2.72 aerial duels won and 5.62 clearances per 90 too.
Southampton: Aaron Ramsdale
Squawka Score: 68%
Another relegated team with a goalkeeper as their best player. Aaron Ramsdale was Southampton‘s best player for the season, and he was actually one of the better goalkeepers statistically. Ramsdale was unsurprisingly busy in the Southampton net with 4.17 saves per 90 in the league, 2.67 of which came from shots inside the box. He ranked in the 80-95th percentile among goalkeepers for saves per 90.
Tottenham: James Maddison
Squawka Score: 78%
James Maddison played in a couple of positions for Tottenham Hotspur across the season, but he comes out on top wherever. The Englishman received a fair bit of criticism, despite averaging 0.45 goals per 90 and posting 7.33 penalty area entries. Although football is about more than just statistics, Maddison ranked well for the required metrics in his position. His standing among Tottenham players was also helped by the fact that the club generally struggled across the campaign.
West Ham: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Squawka Score: 73%
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was West Ham United‘s best player in 2024-25, and there wasn’t much contest. He was top quality defensively, winning 61.78% of his ground duels and losing just 0.26 challenges per 90. Wan-Bissaka also made 3.17 clearances per 90, placing him in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs.
Wolves: Matheus Cunha
Squawka Score: 81%
He missed some crucial games and likely won’t be at the club next season. but Matheus Cunha bowed out as Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ best player. The Brazilian averaged 1.52 shots on target per 90, and 0.17 goals from outside the opposition box. Cunha didn’t rely on penalties either, in the 80-95th percentile for goals scored from open play at 0.48 per 90.
