Premier League most assists: Playmaker Award favourites for 2023/24

The 2022/23 Premier League finished with Kevin De Bruyne claiming another Playmaker Award. Who will win it this time around?

The end-of-season accolade, if you didn’t know by now, is given to the player with the most assists across the Premier League campaign — first awarded in 2017/18 and won by Kevin De Bruyne with 16 assists. De Bruyne won again in 2019/20 with 20 assists, becoming the only player so far to win it twice (and now three times), but not before fellow Belgian Eden Hazard scooped it up in 2018/19 (15 assists).

Tottenham striker Harry Kane secured the Playmaker Award in 2020/21 after recording 14 assists, to go with his Golden Boot-winning 23 goals. And Mohamed Salah repeated that feat last time out, securing both accolades to round off another formidable season for Liverpool’s talismanic force.

With Kane now at Bayern Munich and De Bruyne injured long-term, the race for the Playmaker Award is wide open.

Before the international break there were a quartet of players on three assists, but two have moved ahead now, taking their tallies to four. The first to hit the mark was Pedro Neto, but he was upstaged by Mohamed Salah in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Wolves, with a pair of assists to jump from two to four.

But how does the rest of the top 10 look?
