Premier League most assists: Playmaker Award favourites for 2023/24

One of the more recent accolades, the Premier League Playmaker Award focuses on the players setting up the goals.
Historically, goalscorers have had all the focus when it comes to the attack, but now more appreciation has been shown to those providing the assists — and the Premier League has a lot of playmakers. Since the Playmaker Award was first given in 2017/18, four players have picked it up, with Kevin De Bruyne leading the way on three.
The Belgian won the first with 16 assists, got his second crown in 2019/20 with a record-equalling 20, and then hit 16 again last season. He is joined by compatriot Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah, the latter duo also winning the Golden Boot alongside their Playmaker Award.
De Bruyne will always be among the favourites to win the Playmaker Award as long as he is in the Premier League, but this season there should be a different name on the trophy, with the Belgian missing a chunk of action through injury.
So, who could take his crown? Kane is no longer in the Premier League, leaving for Bayern Munich, but Salah is fighting near the top of the list on six assists. However, two other players are at the top of the assists charts…
