Fulham’s transfer window business
It was a busy summer for Fulham in the transfer window. The Cottagers welcomed six new players, with Emile Smith Rowe, Joachim Andersen, Sander Berge and Jorge Cuenca costing a fee, while Reiss Nelson arrived on loan from Arsenal and Ryan Sessegnon returned for a second spell.
Willian also returned on a free transfer at the end of the January window. Meanwhile, a long list of players leaving the club included the likes of Joao Palhinha, who finally completed his long-anticipated move to Bayern Munich.
Who are Fulham’s most important players?
Fulham’s top Premier League Golden Boot contender: Rodrigo Muniz
Muniz emerged as a surprising goal scorer for Fulham in the Premier League last season, stepping up when the Cottagers struggled to find a reliable striker.
After primarily serving as a substitute early in the season, Muniz scored his first goal at the beginning of February. He went on to net nine goals in his final 16 Premier League appearances, ending the season as Fulham’s top scorer—a testament to his talent.
Despite his late start, Muniz had more shots and shots on target than any other Fulham player in the league last season. He averaged 1.52 shots on target per 90 minutes, ranked ninth-best in the Premier League among players who had played at least 684 minutes and 19 matches. He also ranked in the top five for total shots per 90 minutes, averaging 4.11. His nine goals came from an expected goals (xG) total of 8.72, all of which were scored from open play.
Muniz also took some time to find his rhythm this season. Nevertheless, he has still registered eight goals in the Premier League, outperforming his xG of 5.81. The Brazilian was recently on target in three successive games, before Fulham’s 1-0 defeat by Bournemouth.
Fulham’s primary playmaker: Andreas Pereira
Pereira was linked with a move away from Fulham last summer, with Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him. However, the Cottagers managed to retain him, as he has emerged as a key playmaker for the team.
Last season, the former Manchester United player created 84 chances in the Premier League, nearly double that of the next-best player, Alex Iwobi, who had 49. Of those 84 chances, Pereira generated nine big chances and recorded seven assists. Notably, half of the chances he created came from set-plays.
With 43 set-play chances, only James Ward-Prowse created more than Pereira’s 42 in the Premier League last season. Additionally, he provided four assists from set-plays, placing him in the top 10 for the division.
So far this season, Pereira has created 54 chances, leading to four assists (marginally outperforming his xA of 3.99).
Fulham’s card magnets & top tacklers: Antonee Robinson
Fulham wanted to find a new tackler in midfield following Palhinha’s departure.
However, Antonee Robinson has continued delivering impressive tackling numbers. In modern football, full-backs often contribute significantly to tackle counts, whether they are playing deep or pushing higher up.
Robinson was Fulham’s second-highest tackler in the Premier League last season, recording a total of 93 tackles. While he was 59 tackles behind Palhinha, he finished 44 tackles ahead of third-placed Calvin Bassey and Timothy Castagne.
The American ranked second in fouls (32), behind Palhinha. He was also one of four players tied with six yellow cards in the Premier League, again with only Palhinha receiving more.
This season, Robinson has already made (83) and won (55) the most tackles for Fulham. Although, Sasa Lukic leads the team in fouls (55) and yellow cards (12).
Fulham’s rising star: Josh King
The 18-year-old academy graduate has taken his first steps into professional football this season.
King has been with the club since the age of eight, while representing England at every youth level between under-15s and under-19s.
The central midfielder is approaching double figures into terms of first-team appearances for Fulham this term, while making his first Premier League start during the draw with Southampton in December.
Fulham’s set-piece specialists:
- Penalties: Raul Jimenez
- Free kicks: Andreas Pereira
- Corners: Andreas Pereira

Fulham 2024/25 player ratings*
- GK: Bernd Leno – 55% – Leno’s solid debut campaign raised the bar slightly, and the German shot-stopper remains a crucial member of Fulham’s backline.
- RB: Kenny Tete – 70% – The former Ajax and Lyon player has adjusted his natural attacking style to become a more defensively minded full-back, which is slowly paying off.
- CB: Joachim Andersen – 59% – A fascinating acquisition from another part of London, Andersen has built a reputation as the league’s underrated ball-playing centre-back. He has displayed moments of finesse that have earned him supporters, including Jamie Carragher, as well as aggression that has occasionally worked against him, resulting in one sending-off.
- CB: Calvin Bassey – 56% – After facing a challenging period in Amsterdam, where he was expected to replace Lisandro Martinez, Bassey moved to Fulham. He is still working to regain the form that impressed scouts during his time at Rangers. While he can be inconsistent at times, the Nigerian international continues to be a formidable presence on the field.
- LB: Antonee Robinson – 63% – Fulham’s versatile full-back continues to be a significant threat going forward, putting opposing wingers on the back foot, while remaining resolute in defence. He is rapidly becoming the club’s most important player, which is an astounding turnaround, given that some supporters once questioned his value.
- CM: Andreas Pereira – 60% – Pereira is undeniably Fulham’s key playmaker, but he’s only registered four assists this season. There’s enough time for that assist column to start filling up, though.
- CM: Sander Berge – 54% – Following Burnley’s relegation last season, Berge remained in the Premier League as he made the switch to Fulham. The Norwegian has gone on to become a regular feature in the heart of the Cottagers’ midfield.
- AM: Emile Smith Rowe – 62% – Perhaps the club’s marquee signing of last summer, the former Arsenal midfielder has enjoyed a solid start to life at Craven Cottage, scoring five goals along the way.
- RW: Adama Traore – 64% – In the past, Traoré was praised for his incredible acceleration, but he often struggled to control that speed, as it seemed his feet were quicker than his brain. Gradually, he has found a balance and has become a significant threat with his pace, while also improving his end product.
- LW: Alex Iwobi – 69% – The once-promising Arsenal forward has found a new role at Fulham, where not much is expected of him, but he can be relied upon to put in a shift and contribute with a goal or assist.
- CF: Raul Jimenez – 63% – This season has marked a significant comeback for Jimenez, who recently faced injuries that could have jeopardised his career. After his first 32 appearances, he’s Fulham’s leading scorer with 10 goals.
Marco Silva is firmly committed to a 4-2-3-1 formation, having not deviated from it once during the previous Premier League season. This setup allows him to deploy two midfielders to protect the defence, while allowing attackers to play on the counter.
The defensive midfield pairing is one major change, as Palhinha joined Bayern Munich. Pereira joined Lukic in the double pivot, while Berge has provided an alternative option in that area of the field, with Emile Smith Rowe positioned ahead of them.
Andersen and Bassey form the centre-back partnership at the back, with Robinson on the left and Tete on the right. Bernd Leno retains his position as the goalkeeper.
Up front, Jimenez has reasserted his role as the starting striker, with Muniz providing competition. Flanking him are Traore and Iwobi on the wings.
