Where will Brentford finish in the 2024/25 Premier League season? Odds, probable finish, signings, best players and full squad
Brentford will look for a massive improvement in the Premier League campaign after a disappointing 2023/24 season.
The Bees have adjusted brilliantly to life in the top flight, with 13th and ninth-placed finishes in their first two campaigns. However, last season was something of a regression as Thomas Frank’s men slipped to 16th. They started brightly and were ninth by the start of November following a three-game winning streak against Burnley, Chelsea and West Ham. However, Brentford lost 14 of their next 18 Premier League matches, picking up just 10 points and crashing into the relegation battle.
Thankfully, Brentford stabilised and finished with something of a flourish, losing just two of their last nine games, picking up 13 points and three wins to move 13 points clear of the relegation zone. That was a big relief to supporters, who will expect much better this time around.
Brentford have a 20% implied probability of finishing in the top half of the Premier League this season, which will undoubtedly be the minimum they’re hoping for.

Latest Brentford odds to finish in the top half of the 2024/25 Premier League
As mentioned, Brentford are in a reasonable position to finish in the top half of the table. However, it’s worth noting that the implied probability for them to be relegated isn’t too different at 20%. For the more optimistic, Brentford have an implied probability of 4.8% to finish in the top six.
Brentford’s summer transfer window business
Ivan Toney left for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League after four years with the Bees, scoring 72 goals. David Raya secured his loan move to Arsenal permanently after becoming the Gunners’ No. 1 goalkeeper and winning the Premier League Golden Glove. Seven players would join Brentford in the summer, including Igor Thiago, Fábio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg, with the latter two relocating from Liverpool.
Who are Brentford’s most important players?
Brentford’s top Premier League Golden Boot contender: Bryan Mbeumo
Toney’s impressive 20-goal tally in the Premier League during the 2022/23 season is still memorable, but Brentford showed they could cope without him last season. Now that he has left, Bryan Mbeumo has stepped up, scoring eight goals in his first 10 appearances — double that of the club’s next-best scorer, Yoane Wissa, who has four goals. Interestingly, both Mbeumo and Wissa have converted four big chances each while missing three.
Brentford’s primary playmaker: Mikkel Damsgaard
Mbeumo is not only scoring goals but also contributing to the team’s play by creating 17 chances so far, which is equal to the number created by Mikkel Damsgaard. Damsgaard leads Brentford in assists with three to his name. From those assists, he has produced five big scoring opportunities for his teammates, the same amount as Mbeumo and Vitaly Janelt.
Brentford’s card magnet & top tackler: Christian Norgaard
Christian Norgaard was first among Brentford players in a number of key defensive metrics last season, including tackles (81), interceptions (54) and possessions won in the middle third (122), while he also committed the most fouls (41) and picked up the most bookings (8). Simply put, the Denmark international was a human wrecking ball in the Bees’ midfield, doing his best to shutdown opposition attacks and protect his centre-backs.
Norgaard is again performing a vital function this season, with a team-high 21 tackles and 12 fouls committed, resulting in two yellow cards, one fewer than Kristoffer Ajer.
Brentford’s rising star: Yegor Yarmolyuk
Yegor Yarmolyuk has been at Brentford for a couple of years now, joining from Dnipro in the summer of 2022. However, it was only last season that he started to battle his way into first team reckoning, making 30 appearances across all competitions, including 27 in the Premier League.
Only six of those league outings came from the start, but at 20 years old, Yarmolyuk has time on his side. The Ukraine youth international is a highly talented, technical attacking midfielder and his record for his country of seven goals in 28 caps across various age groups suggests there’s much more to come.
Brentford’s set-piece specialists:

- Free-kicks: Ivan Toney/Bryan Mbeumo
