Where will Bournemouth finish in the 2024/25 Premier League season? Odds, probable finish, signings, best players and full squad

Bournemouth will be hoping they can build on a good first season under Andoni Iraola when the 2024/25 Premier League begins.
The Cherries finished 12th in the Premier League last season and were just one point outside the top half. It was their second successive campaign since returning to the Premier League and Bournemouth will be hoping they can become an established top-flight side once more.
Bournemouth have only finished in the top half of the Premier League once before, though they were so close last season. They have a 50% implied probability of breaking into the top 10 in 2024/25, which will surely provide some cause for optimism among their fans.
Latest Bournemouth odds to finish in the 2024/25 Premier League top half
As mentioned, Bournemouth’s implied probability to finish in the top half of the Premier League is 50%. For the more optimistic, the Cherries have a 15.4% implied probability to finish in the top six, which could be enough to secure European football. Even for the pessimists, a 1.5% implied probability to be relegated looks good.
Bournemouth’s summer transfer window business
Bournemouth made six signings this summer, including two loan moves that were made permanent. Luis Sinisterra and Enes Unal are now permanent players at the Vitality Stadium, joined by Alex Paulsen and Daniel Jebbison. Meanwhile, Evanilson, Dean Huijsen, and Julián Araujo have joined the team as new arrivals. Kepa Arrizabalaga has come on loan, reuniting with Andoni Iraola, with whom he played alongside at Athletic Bilbao. On the flip side, the Cherries have bid farewell to Jamal Lowe, Ryan Fredericks, Lloyd Kelly, and, most notably, last season’s top scorer, Dominic Solanke.
Who are Bournemouth’s most important players?
Bournemouth’s top Premier League Golden Boot contender: Antoine Semenyo
How do you replace a striker who scored 19 goals? For a club like Bournemouth, it’s a challenging task, and there’s a strong chance that they may not find another player as effective. The likelihood of Dominic Solanke staying with the club after his breakthrough season was always slim. In preparation, Bournemouth invested in Brazilian centre-forward Evanilson, who has already scored three goals in his first nine appearances. However, it’s someone already at the club who has truly stepped up.
Antoine Semenyo is leading Bournemouth’s charge with four goals in ten outings. He has registered the most shots on goal, an impressive 42, with 10 of those on target, although he has missed a team-high three big chances. At his current rate, if he can find consistency, the Ghanaian forward is likely to surpass last season’s total of eight goals.
Bournemouth’s primary playmaker: Marcus Tavernier
Bournemouth lacked a standout creator last season, with both Ryan Christie and Marcos Senesi each providing four assists. This season, four players are currently tied with two assists each. However, when it comes to chance creation, Marcus Tavernier stands out, having produced 22 goalscoring opportunities for his teammates in just ten appearances. He has also created a team-high of three big chances.
Bournemouth’s card magnets & top tacklers: Lewis Cook
Ryan Christie was the leader in tackles and fouls at Bournemouth; however, he was relatively mild in terms of receiving yellow cards. In contrast, Marcos Senesi was quite the opposite, frequently getting booked. Last season, the defender received 13 yellow cards in the Premier League, with only Joao Palhinha getting more. Senesi ranked among the top five players at Bournemouth for both tackles and fouls, being one of only two players to record at least 40 in both categories.
This season, Senesi has already accumulated three yellow cards, but Justin Kluivert, Ryan Christie, and Antoine Semenyo have surpassed him by one card. Lewis Cook leads the team with 20 fouls committed, which is two more than Kluivert, who is now playing a more central role compared to his previous position on the flanks last season. Cook also tops when it comes to tackles made (28) one fewer than Senesi.
Bournemouth’s rising star: Alex Scott
Alex Scott was one of the most sought-after players when he made his move from Bristol City to Bournemouth last summer. The 20-year-old shone for the Robins in the Championship, and had his pick of suitors.
Bournemouth won the race and Scott had a decent first season with the Cherries. By no means a regular, Scott played just under 1,000 minutes in the Premier League with 11 starts and 12 substitute appearances. His season was, however, hampered by injury at the start of the campaign. So Scott and Bournemouth will be hoping for a full season for the 20-year-old to show what he can do at the top level.
“I trust in my ability and have the self-belief to think I am one of the best players at the club,” he told BBC Sport recently.
“I just have to keep pushing the midfielders ahead of me, learn from them and get to the levels they were at last season. My aim is to get into the team and not drop out.”

Bournemouth 2024/25 player ratings*
- GK: Kepa – 56% – Once considered the most expensive goalkeeper in the Premier League, Kepa’s reputation has declined somewhat in recent years. However, since joining Bournemouth on loan, he has been actively involved in his role: preventing an average of 0.17 goals and making 3.63 saves per 90 minutes, with 3.25 of those saves occurring inside the box.
- RB: Adam Smith – 62% – His ability to block crosses, averaging 0.52 per game, ranks him in the 80th to 95th percentile compared to other Premier League full-backs.
- CB: Illya Zabarnyi – 60% – A strong centre-back partnership allows both players to complement each other. In this case, Zabarnyi effectively sweeps up danger, ranking highly in his position for clearances per 90 minutes with an average of 4.6.
- CB: Marcos Senesi – 66% – Currently, only two Premier League centre-backs average more tackles won per 90 minutes than Senesi (2.04).
- LB: Milos Kerkez – 65% – As of now, no left-back has created more goals than Kerkez, who has contributed two assists this season. The Hungarian full-back has also made 12 interceptions.
- CM: Lewis Cook – 69% – While Cook may be aggressive, with an average of 1.61 tackles per 90 minutes, he demonstrates awareness in his game, ranking in the 95th percentile among central midfielders for interceptions inside the penalty area at 0.4.
- CM: Ryan Christie – 66% – If a word could describe Christie this season, it would be ‘hustle,’ with the Scottish international winning possession in the final third 1.28 times per 90 minutes, ranking him fourth among all Premier League central midfielders.
- RW: Antoine Semenyo – 73% – He currently leads Bournemouth’s scoring chart with four goals and only Erling Haaland (48) has attempted more shots on goal than Semenyo (42) this season.
- AM: Justin Kluivert – 66% – He has scored one goal, with his non-penalty expected goals on target averaging 0.41 per 90 minutes, which is better than any attacking midfielder in the Premier League.
- LW: Marcus Tavernier – 72% – In this season’s Premier League, only Bukayo Saka (28) has created more chances from the flanks than Tavernier (22).
- CF: Evanilson – 64% – Settling into a new league is not easy, though Evanilson is surprisingly leading all Premier League strikers in one statistic: penalties won per 90 minutes (0.29).
Andoni Iraola favoured a 4-2-3-1 for Bournemouth last season and it worked well for him. It’d be a big surprise for Bournemouth to line up any other way. Despite Bournemouth’s transfer business, we’ve not see too many changes from their favoured lineup from last season.
