Leicester City odds to win the Premier League 2024/25: Predicted finish, transfers, best players and full squad

Published: 15:25, 27 March 2025

Leicester City entered the 2024-25 the Premier League as Championship winners, returning to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Just seven years after winning the title and two years after lifting the FA Cup, Foxes suffered a shock relegation in 2022-23 but recovered brilliantly under Enzo Maresca, accruing 97 points to pip Ipswich Town to the title by just a single point.

Maresca left last summer to take over at Chelsea, replaced by Steve Cooper. But Cooper struggled in charge and was eventually sacked, with Ruud van Nistelrooy brought in. That hasn’t helped much either, and Leicester to set for an immediate return to the Championship.

The Foxes sit 19th after 29 games, nine points from safety. They’ve been given a 99.01% implied probability of relegation per BetMGM‘s odds.

So, can Leicester defy the odds and make a strong comeback in the Premier League? Read on for everything you need to know about the season.

Leicester’s transfer window business

Bilal El Khannouss and Oliver Skipp were Leicester’s most expensive summer acquisitions, strengthening the Foxes’ midfield. They were joined by Abdul Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Jordan Ayew, and Michael Golding, all of whom joined the club permanently. Additionally, Odsonne Edouard and Facundo Buonanotte joined on loan.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was the only player Leicester received a fee for, while Dennis Praet left after five years and more than 100 appearances to return to the Belgian league. Kelechi Iheanacho also concluded his seven-year tenure at King Power. Woyo Coulibaly joined during the winter transfer market while Tom Cannon left the club alongside several loan departures.

Who are Leicester’s most important players?

Leicester’s top Premier League Golden Boot contender: Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy scored only three goals in his last Premier League season. However, the veteran forward demonstrated that he hasn’t lost his scoring instincts by netting 18 goals in 35 Championship appearances last season, leading Leicester’s return to the top tier. With nine games left of the 2024-25 campaign, Vardy is Leicester’s top goalscorer in the Premier League with seven goals. He also leads the Foxes for shots (47) and shots on target (21), with 44.68% shot accuracy.

Leicester’s primary playmaker: Facundo Buonanotte

Creativity has been a big problem for Leicester this season. Bilal El Khannouss leads the Foxes for chances created in the Premier League at 24, two ahead of Facundo Buonanotte. But it’s Buonanotte who takes the head-to-head on assists (two). Buonanotte has also created six big chances in the Premier League this season, level alongside El Khannouss, with 2.0 Expected Assists.

Leicester’s card magnet & top tackler: Wilfred Ndidi

Full-back Victor Kristiansen leads Leicester for tackles this season with 82, 22 more than second-placed Wilfred Ndidi. But per 90 minutes, Ndidi has averaged 3.26 tackles, more than any other Leicester player with at least 1,000 minutes played. The Nigerian has done his best to hold the midfield together at times, despite struggling with injuries. He has committed more fouls than any other Leicester player, with 32 — one more than Buonanotte. Ndidi is also one of five Leicester players to have received at least five yellow cards this season, with only two receiving more than him.

Leicester’s rising star: Bilal El Khannouss

In terms of their own academy players, Leicester haven’t had too many young stars shining this season — though it’s been hard for anyone to stand out. But they look like they have a decent young player in Bilal El Khannouss. The 20-year-old joined in the summer from Genk and has played 24 league games so far this season, amassing over 1,500 minutes. In that time, El Khannouss has been directly involved in three goals, leading Leicester for chances created (24), final third passes attempted (262) and completed (189), as well as through balls attempted (eight).

Leicester’s set-piece specialists:

  • Penalties: Jamie Vardy
  • Free-kicks: Facundo Buonanotte
  • Corners: Facundo Buonanotte/Bilal El Khannouss

  • RB: James Justin – 54% – Justin ranks well for clearances among full-backs at 3.51 per 90, while his 1.42 interceptions per 90 isn’t too bad either. But he has won just 1.07 tackles per 90.
