Wolves odds to be relegated from the 2024-25 Premier League: Odds, probable finish, signings, best players and full squad

With a third of the 2024-25 Premier League season left to go, Wolverhampton Wanderers are in a relegation battle.
In what was technically Gary O’Neil’s first full season in charge, having had a summer to prepare, things were meant to improve for Wolves. But O’Neil was sacked in December with Wolves stuck in the relegation battle.
Vitor Pereira has come in to replace him, but after a strong start, form has dipped. As a result, Wolves remain just two points above relegation zone. And they’re currently priced at 5/2 by BetMGM to be relegated from the Premier League this season, with an implied probability of 28.6%.

Wolves’ transfer business
It was another busy summer for Wolves, with six players joining the club for a transfer fee. Among them were Brazilian midfielder Andre and Portuguese winger Rodrigo Gomes. England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone also moved to Molineux on a four-year deal after losing his starting position to Dean Henderson at Selhurst Park. Meanwhile, Pedro Neto transferred to Chelsea, and Max Kilman reunited with his former boss Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United.
There was more business in the January transfer window, signing Emmanuel Agbadou, Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga for a combined total of over £40million. Mario Lemina left the club for Galatasaray.
Who are Wolves’ most important players?
Wolves’ top Premier League Golden Boot contender: Matheus Cunha
Matheus Cunha has been the man for Wolves this season. His future at the club has been in doubt, with interest in the Brazilian from elsewhere. But he’s remained focused and has given his all for Wolves.
That’s translated to 12 goals in the Premier League for Wolves, five more than striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Cunha is a shot taker, with at least double the efforts on goal of any other player at the club. But his accuracy has let him down at times. Cunha has hit the target with just 38.96% of his shots this season, though his 12 goals have come from an Expected Goals total of just 5.67.
Wolves’ primary playmaker: Matheus Cunha
As well as being Wolves’ top scorer, Cunha is also their playmaker. Although Rayan Ait-Nouri (five) leads the club for assists in the Premier League this season, Cunha isn’t too far behind on four. And he once again leads the way in chances created, with 39. That includes 12 big chances, at least eight more than any other Wolves player.
Wolves’ card magnet & top tackler: Joao Gomes
Most tackles for Wolves in the Premier League this season? Joao Gomes. Most fouls committed? Joao Gomes. Joint-most cards? … You get the idea.
Joao Gomes is a one-man wrecking ball in the middle for Wolves this season, playing a vital role in breaking up opposition attacks and keeping his side safe in turnovers and dangerous moments.
Wolves’ rising star: Rodrigo Gomes
Rodrigo Gomes arrived at Molineux off the back of an excellent 2023-24 campaign on loan at Estoril in his native Portugal, registering seven goals and seven assists in 30 league appearances. The 21-year-old has been a star at youth national team level as well, with nine goals in 37 caps across the various age groups.
It’ll take some time to truly adjust from Portuguese football to the Premier League, but Gomes has had his moments.
