Saudi Arabia know a win on Wednesday will see them qualify for the knockout stages of a World Cup tournament for the first time since 1994, after being knocked out in the group stages in each of their last four tournaments. Hervé Renard’s side fell to a 2-0 defeat to Poland last out time out after shocking the world with a 2-1 victory over Argentina in matchday 1, leaving all four sides able to qualify in Group C.
The Saudis had their chances against Poland, having 16 shots to their nine and missing a penalty in stoppage time of the first half, a goal which would have seen them go in level at the break. But it was not to be and Robert Lewandowski put the game beyond them late in the game after a mistake in the defence left him one on one with the goalkeeper.
As for Mexico, who currently sit at the bottom of the table, a lot of things will need to go in their favour if they are to make it to the knockout rounds. The Mexicans are yet to score in Group C and will need to bolster their goal difference and hope results go their way to make it to the last-16 for the ninth successive tournament.

Saudi Arabia vs Mexico match stats
Saleh Al Shehri has a mixed World Cup to say the least and will be hoping to get himself on the scoresheet once more after missing his penalty in his side’s 2-0 defeat to Poland on Saturday. The Forward has had more shots than any of his teammates so far at the 2022 World Cup (5), hitting the target with four of them and scoring a fantastic equaliser against Argentina in the opening match.
Mexico will need to score at least three times if they are realistically going to have any chance of progressing, so expect the Mexicans to name a more attacking line-up and have more shots than their average of 7.5 per game in their opening two matches.
