After a thrilling nine months the 21/22 EFL Championship regular season is over, and we know two of the teams that will be in the Premier League for 22/23. With a few games to spare Fulham secured their immediate return to the top flight after a barnstorming season and they eventually went up as title winners.

The west London side were later joined by Bournemouth, who had to wait until their penultimate match to gain promotion but will be back in the Premier League for the first time in two years.

At the other end of the table, three went down including Derby County who fought valiantly after their 21-point deduction and only finished the season seven points behind Reading. Wayne Rooney’s side will be joined in next season’s League One by Barnsley and Peterborough United.

2021/22 Championship play-off odds

However, 21/22 Championship season isn’t done there. We now have the play-offs to enjoy.

The make up of the play-offs wasn’t confirmed until the final whistle on climax of the regular season but there ultimately was no change from the quartet that had started on the final day in the play-off places. Nottingham Forest had missed out on automatic promotion in losing to Bournemouth in their penultimate match and a draw against Hull City saw them drop a place to fourth, below Huddersfield Town.

Sheffield United and Luton Town also secured their spots in the play-offs with victories over Fulham and Reading respectively, the latter via a cheeky first-half goal from Harry Cornick.

But four had to go down to two, and Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest will travel to Wembley at the end of the month in a fight to secure their spot in the Premier League. Huddersfield beat Luton 2-1 on aggregate, while Forest overcame Sheffield United on penalties.

When do you release your Championship tips?

We aim to post our Championship tips and predictions around 48 hours before kick-off, allowing punters time to weigh up their options. Time periods and odds can change depending on fixture congestion.

For every Championship game throughout the season you will find a tip on this page ahead of the game getting underway and for some games we’ll even have specially curated Squawka Bet previews with all of the relevant Championship odds, team news, stats and of course most importantly – our betting tips and predictions.

Today’s Championship betting tips

Looking for tips on today’s Championship games? Check the top of this page to see our tips for the upcoming matches. When betting on the day of the game, there is plenty to consider and you should always check the team news and form ahead of kick-off.

Championship In-Play betting tips

With so many Championship games now broadcast live, the league provides a great opportunity for some In Play betting tips.
This particular method of wagering allows you to tailor your bets to the unfolding action, whether that’s a high-profile play-off second-leg or a tussle at the bottom of the table.

Full Time Results

The Championship is often referred to as a league where any team can beat another, and that certainly can be the case. However, this means that there is often great value to be found in the Full Time Results markets, also known as win-draw-win bets.

With many games often taking place at the same time either at 3pm on Saturday afternoon or 7.45pm on a Tuesday evening, this particular market also offers ample opportunity for a Championship accumulator. You can often find great value on this type of bet with Virgin Bet.

Both Teams to Score

Both teams to score has become a very popular bet in recent years as the bet is still alive until the final whistle. The premise is simple – you’re backing both teams to find the net during the 90 minutes. Again, with low-odds usually available, it may be worth combining a few both teams to score selections for a tasty Championship accumulator on a Saturday afternoon for example.

These are the teams most likely to see both teams score in their games according to the 2021/22 season’s stats (correct at time of writing March 31st):

Bristol City – BTTS 69%
QPR – BTTS 61%

These teams are least likely to see goals from both sides:

West Brom – BTTS 34%
Hull City – BTTS 28%

Player Total Shots

You are now even able to bet on the amount of shots a player takes in a game and this type of bet is popular with our stats-loving Squawka experts. In the Championship you can usually bet on the Overs/Unders markets on how many attempts at goal a player will make in a game.

Player Total Tackles

As above, this bet allows you to wager on how many tackles a certain player will make over the course of a 90 minute match, over or above the line set by the bookmaker.

Bookings

There are several different markets available on bookings now too. You can back a certain player to receive a booking for example, or even a red card, or you can back the amount of cards shown in a match altogether.
You can even back how many cards are shown to a certain team, or a team to receive more cards than their opponents and we have all the stats to back up our selections in this market too.

A few players to consider in this market is Coventry’s Gustavo Hamer, who tops the charts with 13 yellow cards.

Player Offsides

There are also prices available on players to be caught offside a certain amount of times during the game – another perfect market if you have the right stats on hand as we always do. For example, Middlesbrough forward Britt Assombalonga was caught offside more times than he started games for Boro two seasons ago, seeing the flag raised 28 times despite starting just 27 matches.

Corners Taken

You can also bet on Under/Over markets in corners in 2021/2022 and also on the ‘Corners Match Result’ market, where you bet on one team to win more than the other during the match.

This Weekend’s Sky Bet Championship Predictions

Looking for some bets on this weekend’s Championship action? Saturday afternoon is when the league really comes to life and we’ve got you covered with the best tips, offers and price boosts at Squawka Bet.

Championship Odds

Looking for the best possible value odds on your Championship bet today? Look no further than our Odds Comparison tool.

This particular tool allows you to find the best possible odds on whatever bet you’re looking for – not just in the Championship, but in any available market across the world of football. You can filter the matches by day or by competition, meaning that you’ll be able to find the games taking place today – or you can find the games taking place in Championship or any other league across the next few days too.

All you have to do is click the ‘1×2’ box to bring up other markets such as Over/Under 2.5 goals and Double Chance, select the market you’re looking for and the bet you’re interested in backing and then all of the available odds will be shown for you to wager on.

Remember, these odds also update in real time too, so whenever you’re placing your bet you’re getting the best odds available on the tool.

By clicking the odds you’re hoping to back, the tool will not only take you through to the bookmaker’s site or app, where, if you’re already logged in, the selection will load into your betslip leaving you just a tap of the confirmation button away from your bet being placed. If you don’t already have an account, you can sign-up and take advantage of any new customer offers that are available, from sign-up bonuses and the best available odds – what could be easier than that?

Championship Priceboosts

Some bookmakers such as Betfair do offer boosted prices on Championship games. We’ll bring you all the latest enhanced new customer offers, but in the Championship in particular you’re more likely to find offers for all customers, with Sky Bet in particular offering specially selected boosts ahead of most Championship fixtures.

Championship Accumulators

Given the research and knowledge that backs up our Championship Tips, you can now feel confident in placing an accumulator. This is a bet that combines your selections from several different matches for even better value. You can choose different markets on different matches should you wish, but most punters decide to stick to the same markets, perhaps backing ten different teams from five games to find the net in a Championship BTTS accumulator.

Best bookmakers for Championship

Every bookmaker offers a great depth of markets in this league, although some more than others. There are several other factors to take into account when deciding upon a bookmaker to back our Championship tips with. For example, how much value do their odds provide, what is their customer service like and whether they produce any Championship betting offers.
Here are some of the best bookmakers to consider.

Which other competitions do you offer tips for?

You will never struggle for tips with our extensive range of betting knowledge here at Squawka Bet. We aim to offer tips on all of the top leagues in the world and some more obscure ones too.

Championship Free Bets & Offers

You can always find great value Championship odds on some of the more popular bookmakers around, but there are also often some excellent price boosts and enhancements available for even better bang for your buck.
And if none of them take your fancy, almost all bookmakers offer the chance to get your hands on a sign-up bonus, usually in the shape of some free bets which is a great way to get your Championship betting experience off to the best possible start.
