Premier League Predictions Gameweek 34: Title race and relegation picture thickens

After three midweek fixtures saw Manchester City go level with Arsenal at the top and Burnley confirmed to join Wolves in the Championship next season, the remaining 14 teams are in Premier League action over Friday, Saturday and Monday.

Arsenal welcome Newcastle to the Emirates on Saturday evening, while Tottenham visit a dejected Wolves in an enormous 3pm fixture.

Sunderland vs Nottingham Forest – Friday 24th April – 8:00pm

Friday’s clash pits two of the division’s in-form sides against each other, with contrasting objectives at play. Sunderland are coming off the back of a dramatic 4-3 injury-time loss at Villa Park last Sunday, hoping a win here can continue their late surge towards European football.

For Nottingham Forest, Vitor Pereira has helped inspire both domestic and continental solidity since being appointed. His side have gone unbeaten across nine of their 13 games with him at the helm, most recently demolishing newly-relegated Burnley 4-1.

This calendar year both have picked up exactly 18 points each, although the Black Cats have played a game more. There isn’t an awful lot to separate the two at this stage, making a stalemate seem like the most logical outcome.

Prediction: Sunderland 1-1 Nottingham Forest (5/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Fulham vs Aston Villa – Saturday 25th April – 12:30pm

Fulham have gone goalless in their last two outings, failing to find the net in a 2-0 loss to Liverpool before suffering a 0-0 snoozefest with rivals Brentford. The Cottagers sit in 12th, however, a win would firmly catapult them into contention for a European place.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have made a triumphant return to their previous standards thanks to the critical return of John McGinn and Youri Tielemans in midfield. Another couple of wins is likely to secure Champions League football for next season, and they’ll be eyeing this fixture as a marker for getting halfway towards that goal.

Villa hold a dominant record in recent head-to-heads, winning each of the last six and eight of the last nine. Emery’s men should have enough to see off their London opposition, but longstanding defensive frailties probably results in Fulham getting on the scoresheet.

Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Aston Villa (8/1 with BOYLE Sports)

West Ham vs Everton – Saturday 25th April – 3:00pm

This weekend’s top-flight coverage continues to be a case of fine margins. West Ham and Everton share almost an identical record in this year’s form table – 14 played, five wins, four draws and five losses each, with the only figure to separate them being goals scored, where the Toffees boast 20 to the Hammers’ 19. That being said, it’s another example of contrasting objectives as David Moyes’ men are pushing for a finish in the European places, while Nuno Espirito Santo aims to steer West Ham to safety.

The London Stadium has been a slightly more forgiving venue for the hosts than when on their travels, helping generate a higher xG and lower xGA. But Everton have won one more game on the road than they have at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this campaign, meaning a draw could appear to be a fair result for both on paper.

Prediction: West Ham 2-2 Everton (11/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Wolves vs Tottenham – Saturday 25th April – 3:00pm

Following Monday night’s goalless draw away to Crystal Palace, Wolves were officially dumped out of the top tier. It’s been a painful campaign for a team who’ve been rooted to the foot of the table for almost the entire stretch, barring a Gameweek 2 climb into 19th based on West Ham’s inferior goal difference.

On the flip side, since suffering that gruelling 3-0 defeat to fellow relegation-threatened Forest, Roberto De Zerbi has shown incremental signs of improving this Tottenham team. What matters most at this stage is getting them over the line by any means necessary, and the gauntlet is right there for them to run at Molineux on Saturday.

Late heartbreak snatched a first 2026 win from Tottenham’s grasp, but the competitive spirit displayed is exactly the type of fight they’ll need against a side desperate to drag Spurs down with them. Football can often be a game of fine margins, and that could well be the case here.

Prediction: Wolves 0-1 Tottenham (7/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace – Saturday 25th April – 3:00pm

It’s been a funny old season for the reigning champions. A “respectable” conclusion to the campaign has to result in Champions League football for next term, which allows Liverpool some wriggle room up to 5th spot. Virgil van Dijk’s late winner ensured Merseyside remained red last weekend, however, that win was only their second in a six-game stretch.

Over to Palace, who despite a looming European semi-final to prepare for, are far from distracted when it comes to league duties. The Eagles have gone four unbeaten in the Prem, dispatching Tottenham and Newcastle during this sample.

Alarmingly for those of a red persuasion, Palace boast four wins from the sides’ last six encounters, losing just two of the most recent nine head-to-heads. All that to say this fixture has all the makings of a major upset.

Prediction: Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace (18/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Arsenal vs Newcastle – Saturday 25th April – 5:30pm

In the space of just four days, Manchester City have flipped the script on this season’s title race, going level on results, points and goal difference with Arsenal. This shift has been a gradual one over the course of the calendar year, with Mikel Arteta’s team 4th in the form table compared to Pep Guardiola’s challengers five points better off in 1st. Mentality will be a key component in the homestretch, and Newcastle’s has certainly faltered in recent times. Unhelped by injuries, Eddie Howe’s men are currently on a four-game skid, with Bournemouth the latest to take three points from the Toon.

Although the Magpies have been a thorn in Arsenal’s side over recent years, it’s a much safer bet siding with the hosts to record a victory that would not only help keep pace with their rivals, but leapfrog them back into pole position.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle (7/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Man Utd vs Brentford – Monday 27th April – 8:00pm

Finally, Monday Night Football presents an intriguing clash between a rejuvenated Manchester United and a Brentford side refusing to quit. Michael Carrick has brilliantly recovered what threatened to be another damaging campaign without reinventing the wheel, sitting behind only Man City when it comes to being the best Premier League team of 2026 results-wise.

For Brentford, this remaining patch of games could prove to be the cherry on top of the delicious sundae Keith Andrews has helped serve up at the Gtech Community Stadium. Although they’ve drawn five consecutive matches, the Bees are unbeaten across their last six PL outings, and this resilience makes for a tough-to-call fixture at Old Trafford.

Having avoided a third straight match without a win thanks to Matheus Cunha’s winner at Stamford Bridge, United have continuously proven they’re able to grind out results despite being far from dominant. Expect a similar story against an awkward set of visitors in this closing matchup, with the added potential for late drama.

Prediction: Man Utd 2-1 Brentford (7/1 with BOYLE Sports)
