Kiernan Dewsbury Hall Over 0.5 shots on target6/4 @ Unibet
(40.0%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐Last weekend’s defeat to Liverpool was the first time in five matches that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had failed to record a shot on target. In the four matches prior to the Merseyside derby his shots on target totals read, 2,1,1,2. With this in mind, 6/4 looks a cracker of a price for one or more against The Hammers.
Draw5/2 @ Bet365
(28.6%)
⭐⭐⭐Both teams have plenty to play for here with Everton only three points from sixth place, which could potentially be a Champions League spot. West Ham are fighting for their lives and all things considered I think the draw looks a likely outcome here.

How both teams go into West Ham vs Everton

West Ham are grinding through the run-in with survival still not fully secure, but momentum is slowly building. A 4-0 win over Wolves showed their attacking edge, followed by a goalless draw with Crystal Palace that also brought back-to-back clean sheets for the first time in over a year. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sit 17th, just two points above Tottenham, with the manager warning the relegation fight could go to the final day.

The London Stadium has become a bit of a base for them too, with West Ham unbeaten in their last five home league games. However, Everton have often been a tricky matchup, with just three home wins in 17 against them. That said, recent history at home is better, including two wins in the last four meetings, so confidence will be there heading into another tight contest.

Everton arrive at the London Stadium still feeling the sting of last weekend’s Merseyside derby defeat, where a 100th-minute header from Virgil van Dijk sealed a 2 1 win for Liverpool at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium. It has been a mixed run for David Moyes’ side, with three wins in their last four Premier League games, leaving them 10th and still in the conversation for a late push towards European places, sitting just three points off sixth.

Away form has been the real strength, with Everton one of the better travelling sides in the division despite struggles at home. They also have a strong historical edge in this fixture, winning more league games against West Ham than any other club, including 13 away victories. However, results in London have been less consistent in recent years, which makes this another tricky test for Moyes’ side.

West Ham team news

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns heading into Saturday’s game, giving Nuno a full squad to choose from and the option to stick with the same starting XI. There could still be one change in defence, though, with Aaron Wan Bissaka pushing for a start at right back ahead of Kyle Walker Peters in a back four that is likely to include Konstantinos Mavropanos, Axel Disasi and El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Everton team news

Everton are dealing with a major blow at the back, with Jarrad Branthwaite ruled out for the rest of the season after a hamstring injury against Liverpool. Jack Grealish is also unavailable due to a foot issue, leaving David Moyes short of options in key areas.

There was concern over Beto after a head knock in the derby, but he avoided concussion and could still lead the line after his recent scoring form. Michael Keane is expected to step in alongside James Tarkowski in defence, while James Garner, Idrissa Gueye and Kiernan Dewsbury Hall should keep their places in midfield.

Head-to-head

In the last six meetings between these sides, results have been extremely tight, with both teams winning twice and two matches ending in draws. Here’s a look at the most recent results:

29/10/23Everton 0-1 West HamPremier League

Conclusion: Will West Ham’s need for points be enough?

Recent meetings between West Ham and Everton have been tight, with the last three all ending level, and this one looks set to follow a similar pattern. West Ham have become tough to break down at home, and that could be key here. Everton’s away form has been strong, but the Hammers have the tools to frustrate them and grind out another valuable point in their fight to stay clear of danger. Back the draw at 5/2 or take Dewsbury-Hall to hit the target at 6/4.
