Best Bets & Predictions
| Our Prediction | Odds & Bookmaker | Confidence | Why We’re Backing It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arsenal -1 Match Handicap | 5/4 @ BOYLESports (48.8%) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Arsenal may have lost at the Etihad last weekend, but they showed plenty of attacking intent throughout and I expect them to put in a strong showing here. Newcastle on the other hand have lost their last three in the league, against Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth. Eddie Howe’s future at the club is coming under question and another defeat looks likely here. Back Arsenal to win the game by two or more goals. |
| Kieran Trippier to be carded | 4/1 @ BOYLESports (21.7%) | ⭐⭐⭐ | Kieran Trippier has been booked in three of his last eight outings for Newcastle. The right-back will be up against Eberechi Eze on Saturday, which increases his chances of picking up a card. Odds of 4/1 look generous here. |

How both teams go into Arsenal vs Newcastle
Arsenal know the task is simple on paper. With Man City tied up in FA Cup action, a point against Newcastle would be enough to go back to the top. The problem is form. Mikel Arteta’s side have lost four straight domestic games for the first time since 2017 to 18, after a 2 1 defeat to City that has only increased the pressure.
There is still context. Arsenal were not poor at the Etihad, but City’s quality made the difference. Fatigue is starting to show too, with a Champions League semi final against Atletico Madrid coming up. April has been a real issue under Arteta, with a points per game return of just 1.48, and that slump is now threatening to define their season.

Newcastle are heading into this one with very different concerns. Eddie Howe’s side are still not mathematically safe with five games to go, and form has taken a sharp dip. Three straight league defeats and four in all competitions have left them drifting, a far cry from the expectations that followed the 2021 takeover.
The numbers are worrying. Newcastle sit 14th, 11 points clear of the drop, but have lost eight of their last 11 league games, more than anyone else since late January. Pressure is building, and a trip to Arsenal is not ideal, with no win in their last 13 away league games there.
Arsenal team news
Martin Odegaard returned at the Etihad after his knee issue, but Bukayo Saka remains a major doubt with a calf problem. Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber are also uncertain, while Mikel Merino is still a few weeks away from returning after foot surgery. Timber is close to being back though, which would be a boost for Mikel Arteta given the recent struggles at right back from Ben White and Cristhian Mosquera.
Newcastle team news
Newcastle have been hit again at right back, with Tino Livramento ruled out by a groin injury that could keep him out for the rest of the season. Anthony Gordon is also expected to miss out with a similar issue. Emil Krafth and Fabian Schar remain sidelined, while Joelinton is suspended. There is a boost though, with Bruno Guimaraes set to return to the starting XI after recovering from injury.

Conclusion: Will Arsenal’s Defence Prove Too Strong?
Arsenal may no longer be in the driving seat after their defeat to Manchester City last weekend, but they can bounce back here with a strong showing that acts as a reminder to City that will need to win every game. Back the hosts at 5/4 on the -1 Match Handicap, or take the 4/1 for Kieran Trippier to be carded.
