Antonio Conte’s Tottenham career started against Everton, at least in the Premier League, a goalless draw at Goodison Park in November that kicked off a good run. But four months later and things aren’t as rosy, with Tottenham losing their control of the fight for Champions League football.

With just two wins from their past six Premier League matches, Tottenham are seventh, five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United. Although they do have two games in hand over the Red Devils, sixth-placed Arsenal are just two behind Man Utd with three games in hand – putting them in control. Tottenham are also currently in something of a yo-yo phase, combined wins with defeats, beating Manchester City but then losing to Burnley; beating Leeds but then getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Middlesbrough.

Things aren’t much better for Everton. Although there was happiness in midweek as they reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup thanks to their 2-0 win over non-league Boreham Wood, their attention must now turn to the Premier League and their fight for survival.

Frank Lampard’s men are just one point clear of the relegation zone and have lost three of their four Premier League games since the former Chelsea manager replaced Rafa Benitez in the Goodison dugout. The most recent defeat was disheartening too, as they were beaten 1-0 by Man City but were not awarded a penalty for Rodri’s handball with the game still goalless. PGMOL have since apologised but the damage was done and Everton are still looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone.

Tottenham vs Everton: Match Stats

Although Tottenham may be struggling overall, Harry Kane has found some good form of late. The Englishman, perhaps getting himself ready for the summer transfer window, has been directly involved in nine goals in his past 11 Premier League games, scoring seven and recording two assists. He also loves playing against Everton, with 11 strikes vs the Toffees in the Premier League – only managing more against Leicester (16).

Lampard’s arrival at Everton has brought a change in gameplan but the Toffees are still working on their improvements in attack and have averaged two offsides per game in the Premier League. Going slightly further back, Tottenham’s average for offsides in the Premier League since Conte took charge is 2.2 per game, with only Burnley being caught offside more often in that time (2.64).
