Everton vs Tottenham: Predictions
These two sides have already met twice this season, and it was Carlo Ancelotti’s side which has won on both occasions. In the opening game of the season, Spurs suffered defeat at home to Everton with Dominic Calvert-Lewin providing the difference. And in earlier this year Everton claimed a stunning 5-4 FA Cup clash between the two sides with Bernard winning the game in extra time for the Blues.
Everton hold a game in hand on Spurs but currently sit one point behind Jose Mourinho’s side. The two sides have struggled on the whole after their promising starts to the 2020/21 campaign with neither team really putting any pressure on the top four as it stands.
Ancelotti’s men left the south coast disappointed on Monday night as they played out a goalless draw against the struggling Brighton & Hove Albion. Neither side looked a real threat on goal but it was Graham Potter’s side which will have felt they had the better of the chances. However, the Toffees will be hoping for an instant reaction on Friday against an out of form Spurs side.
After their promising 2-0 victory away to Aston Villa, Spurs have endured back-to-back disappointing results against Newcastle United and Manchester United which has continued to mount the pressure on Jose Mourinho and his relationship with the Spurs players who looked emotionally drained after Sunday’s defeat to the Red Devils.
Everton vs Tottenham: Match Stats
Harry Kane has been in stunning form this season and it seems he is the side’s only hope of earning points at the moment. Kane has netted 19 times in the Premier League this season and twice in their 2-2 draw away to Newcastle. The 27-year-old is the joint top scorer in the league this season and top in the assist charts, however, his goals alone are not helping Spurs over the line.
The previous meeting between these two sides in the FA Cup threw up a nine-goal thriller and Friday’s game could go along the same lines given Tottenham’s shaky defence. In their last five games, Mourinho’s men have conceded 10 goals, and in their last two games against Everton have conceded six.
