After two defeats to the two Manchester clubs, including a 2-0 defeat to Sunday’s opponents Manchester United in the League Cup final, Newcastle have got back on track with back-to-back wins against Wolves and Nottingham Forest to move them to within just two points of Spurs in fourth.

The Toon Army’s last three league victories have seen them score the winner in the 89th, 79th and 90th minute respectively and following their goalless draw at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture, Newcastle are looking to keep a clean sheet in consecutive Premier League games against Manchester United for the first time since May 1997.

This will be Man Utd’s first away game in the Premier League since their 7-0 demolition at the hands of Liverpool, as they aim to put that result firmly in their rear view mirror. The Red Devils have won more Premier League away games against Newcastle than any other side (14). However, they’ve lost two of their last five such visits (W2 D1), having lost just one of their previous 13 at St James’ Park.

Newcastle Predicted XI (4-3-3): Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimraes, Joe Willock, Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak, Joelinton

Manchester United Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Marcel Sabitzer, Fred, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst
