West Ham vs Ipswich prediction, stats, tips & team news: Back Morsy to rack up the fouls

West Ham will be looking for their first Premier League home win of the season when Ipswich Town visit the London Stadium on Saturday. The game kicks off at 3pm and you can find our two data-driven tips and match preview below.

Two West Ham vs Ipswich predictions

Sam Morsy to Commit 2+ Fouls (10/11 with SkyBet)

No player has more Premier League yellow cards this season than Ipswich midfielder Sam Morsy (4). Since his Ipswich league debut in September 2021, only one player has had more yellow cards in the league in England’s top four tiers than Morsy’s total of 40.

It’s the fouls market where Morsy makes appeal on Saturday. In his last four matches, he has racked up totals of 6,2,3,2 and the 10/11 for him to clear the 2+ line on Saturday looks an excellent price from Sky Bet.

Omari Hutchinson and Emerson to be Carded (18/1 with Sky Bet)

It has been well-documented that we are seeing record volumes of cards being brandished in the Premier League this season. Ipswich’s Omari Hutchinson already has three yellows to his name and averages 1.3 fouls per game. Hutchinson has been carded in his last two matches on the road, and he makes up one-half of this 18/1 double.

Emerson was shown ten yellow cards in 35 league appearances last season. On that basis, the 4/1 as a single looks too big a price for him to find his way into the notebook on Saturday. The Italian has been cautioned twice this term, and with West Ham desperate to get their first home win of the season, I think we will see a high card count.

The appointment of Julen Lopetegui was expected to transform West Ham, but it’s been anything but after the early goings. The Hammers have claimed one victory from their opening six outings, which came on the road at Palace. Each of their three contests at the London Stadium has ended in defeat, with them conceding eight goals and netting twice.

As for the newly promoted Ipswich Town, they’ve been enjoying a modest return to England’s top division after more than two decades away. The Tractor Boys are unbeaten in four heading into matchday seven, which includes back-to-back against Fulham, Brighton, Southampton, and Aston Villa.

West Ham host Ipswich at the London Stadium at 3pm on Saturday 5th October.

West Ham team news

Niclas Füllkrug, who has been dealing with a leg issue, should be available for Lopetegui here, but may have to settle for a place on the substitutes bench.

Ipswich team news

Kalvin Phillips, Nathan Broadhead, and Harry Clarke have been dealing with respective knocks of late, but all three could return to Ipswich’s squad in time for this clash. There’s no return date for Janoi Donacien, though.

West Ham vs Ipswich head-to-head

Ipswich have won their two most recent meetings against West Ham, but claimed one success from four previous Premier League visits (two losses and one draw).
