Man City vs Plymouth prediction, stats, tips and team news

Man City will be on their guard when they host Premier League-killers Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday, March 1st, at 5:45pm (UK time). The match will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on ITV4.

Adam Randell 2+ Fouls Committed (13/8 with Paddy Power)

Manchester City host Plymouth at 5:45pm, with the hosts just 1/16 in the match result market. The Pilgrims have already seen off Brentford and Liverpool in the FA Cup this season, however the best bet looks to be from the fouls committed market.

Adam Randell is 6/4 to give away two or more fouls, which looks like a solid proposition considering that he will be up against a high-quality City midfield. Randell averages 1.1 fouls per game in the Championship this term, but he has recorded at least two fouls in three of his last four outings.

Jack Grealish 1+ Assists (9/4 with William Hill)

It’s been a disappointing campaign for Jack Grealish, but he has found some joy in the cup competitions for City. The Champions League winner has five assists in total, with four of those coming in just three appearances in the League Cup. I fancy City score three or four against Plymouth and I like the look of Grealish in the assist market.

How both teams go into Man City vs Plymouth

Man City thrashed Salford 8-0 in the third round of the FA Cup and in all honesty, everyone expected them to do something similar to Leyton Orient in the next round. However, it proved a very different story, with the London side taking a shock 16th-minute lead and holding onto it until half-time. However, the resistance finally gave way in the 56th minute when Abdukodir Khusanov scored his first Man City goal, while Kevin De Bruyne finished the job on 79 minutes. Since that match, City have lost twice to Real Madrid in the Champions League and beaten Newcastle 4-0 at the Emirates. Pep Guardiola’s men were then beaten at home by Liverpool, before a 1-0 win over Spurs.

Plymouth have provided one of the fairytale stories of this season’s FA Cup. As if beating Brentford away 1-0 wasn’t good enough, they only went and took out Premier League leaders Liverpool at home by the same scoreline in the fourth round in one of the biggest FA Cup shocks in recent times. Not bad for a team that sits 22nd in the table.

Man City team news

Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Rodri will be unavailable for this match, while Oscar Bobb is a doubt.

Plymouth team news

Former Everton defender Brendan Galloway is out for the season, while Joe Edwards and Ryan Hardie won’t be available for this FA Cup tie.

Man City vs Plymouth head-to-head

Man City have won 11 of the previous 20 meetings between these sides, but this will be the first since February 1989. That year, City finished second to Chelsea in the second tier of English football.
