Everton vs Newcastle prediction, stats, tips & team news: Best bets from Goodison Park
Everton will be looking to end a miserable Premier League run at home when they host Newcastle on matchday seven. Dean Woodward has provided us with his two best bets and match preview for the game.
Two Everton vs Newcastle predictions
Everton Under 11.5 free-kicks & Newcastle Under 2.5 offsides (4/5 with Bet365)
Everton were the 4th least fouled team in the Premier League last season, averaging just 9.5 per game. This hasn’t changed much this season, with the average sitting around 9.8 fouls against per game.
They welcome a side in Newcastle who have made an average of 11.2 fouls per game, with five of their eight matches registering under ten fouls. Two of the high fouling games came when they had very little of the ball: fourteen fouls against Man City last weekend and sixteen fouls against Spurs a few weeks back (the most fouled team in the league last season).
Newcastle have also had under 2.5 offsides in seven of their eight games this season. Faced with a deep Everton side that has only caught their opposition offside six times this season, the unders looks relatively safe.
This selection has now landed in eight of Everton’s last ten games, with their highest free-kick count in that period being just thirteen. You would have to go back nineteen games to find a match where they caught their opposition offside more than two times, dating back to when they visited Old Trafford in a 2-0 defeat back in March.
Everton Over 1.5 offsides, Newcastle Over 12.5 free-kicks & Over 4.5 first half free-kicks (4/5 with Bet365)
Staying on a similar trend of offsides and free kicks, Everton (specifically Dominic Calvert-Lewin) have been insane for offsides this season. No team has registered more offsides than Everton in the Premier League this season, registering twenty-three in just six games (3.83per game) and picking up three in both cup games v Southampton and Doncaster.
It’s now ten straight games where the Toffees have registered over 1.5 offsides. Newcastle aren’t renowned for a high line but still sit in the top half for catching their opposition offside this season.
Newcastle are front runners in the fouled table this season, drawing a whopping ninety fouls in just six Premier League games (15.00 per game). Everton have seen a drop off this season (averaging just 11.00 per game) compared to last season, where they were the fifth highest foulers at over twelve per game.
This bet has landed comfortably in seven of Everton’s eight games this season, but it came up short in their 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the end of August.

How both teams go into Everton vs Newcastle
Everton secured their first league win of the season last weekend as they managed a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park. Those three points lifted the Toffees out of the relegation zone and they will look to build on that positive performance against a Newcastle side who have struggled on the road under Eddie Howe.
The Magpies picked up an excellent point at home to Manchester City in the lunchtime kick-off last Saturday. An Anthony Gordon penalty gave Newcastle a 1-1 after Josko Gvardiol had opened the scoring for the Champions in the first half. Newcastle have accrued 11 points and sit 7th in the Premier League table.
Everton host Newcastle at Goodison Park at 5:30pm on Saturday 5th October.
Everton team news
Vitalii Mykolenko could be available here, but no fewer than five players have a return date among them: Seamus Coleman, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Idrissa Gueye, while Youssef Chermiti and Armando Broja are ruled out.
Newcastle team news
Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles will not be back for Newcastle until the new year. Callum Wilson and Lewis Miley join them on the sidelines. Alexander Isak, Matt Targett and Kieran Trippier are all a doubt.
