Crystal Palace vs Newcastle prediction, stats, tips & team news

Crystal Palace will be hoping to get their season up and running when they host Newcastle United at Selhurst Park on Saturday 30th November at 3pm.

The Eagles sit in the relegation zone after 11 games, with just one win in the Premier League. Newcastle sit tenth, but are just four points outside the top four.

BTTS No (6/5 with Sky Bet)

At least one side has kept a clean sheet in each of the past six games between Crystal Palace and Newcastle across all competitions. This includes three goalless draws. Both sides have failed to score in three of the last five Crystal Palace matches, the same can be said of three of the last five Newcastle matches too.

Under 2.5 goals (10/11 with Sky Bet)

Recent games between these two sides haven’t really produced goals. Just two of the past 16 games across all competitions between Crystal Palace and Newcastle have seen more than two goals scored. And both of those matches came at St James’ Park. Each side has seen three of their last five matches fail to beat the 2.5 goal line.

How both teams go into Crystal Palace vs Newcastle

Oliver Glasner’s first full season as Crystal Palace manager is not going to plan. The Eagles are in the relegation zone with just one win from their opening 12 league games. That came at the end of October, against Tottenham Hotspur, ending a run of eight games without victory. Palace have lost six times with five draws, including one against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. At Selhurst Park, they’ve taken five points from six games, with a win and two draws.

Newcastle will have a return to European football in their sights this season, after failing to qualify in 2023-24. And they’re in a decent position. Although the Magpies sit tenth after 12 games, they are just 4 points behind third-placed Chelsea. It’s an extremely close battle for the top four right now. Newcastle have been a bit unpredictable on the road this season, though. Eddie Howe’s men have won two, drawn two and lost two of their six away league games so far.

Crystal Palace team news

Crystal Palace will hope to have Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton back in time for this game, but it is still too soon to be confirmed. Chadi Riad is also out injured, but isn’t expected back. Daichi Kamada is suspended, while Matheus Franca and Eddie Nketiah are injured.

Newcastle team news

Dan Burn will be available after suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards. Sven Botman, Emil Krafth and Jamaal Lascelles are longer-term injury absentees whilst there are doubts over Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes.
