Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Arsenal will look to keep their Premier League title hopes alive when they travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace at 5:30pm on Saturday 21st December.

The Gunners are six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool who have a game in hand. Crystal Palace are at the other end of the table, 15th but four points clear of the relegation zone. This game will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League.

Arsenal to win, Over 6.5 Arsenal corners and Will Hughes to be carded (8/1 with bet365)

Arsenal have won on each of their past two visits to Selhurst Park in the Premier League without conceding. Arsenal have averaged 6.73 corners per game in the Premier League this season. Palace will want to prevent this, given the Gunners’ proclivity at scoring from set pieces. Will Hughes has been booked seven times in 18 appearances in all competitions this season.

How both teams go into Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Arsenal’s third attempt at winning the Premier League title isn’t going as well as they would have hoped. The Gunners were Manchester City‘s closest rivals in each of the past two seasons. Man City are struggling this season — by their high standards — but Arsenal haven’t been the ones to capitalise. The Gunners are currently third, six points off top, unable to keep up with Liverpool. The Gunners suffered a rough period which saw them fall away slightly, but bounced back with three consecutive wins. Consecutive draws against Everton and Fulham haven’t helped their cause.

In south London, things aren’t going too well in Oliver Glasner’s first full season at Crystal Palace. The Eagles find themselves in a relegation battle, struggling after key departures and a lack of backing in the summer. Palace have won just three league games all season, beating Brighton, Ipswich Town and Tottenham Hotspur. They have drawn far too many games too, with seven the most of any team in the Premier League. Nonetheless, they do have a four-point lead over Ipswich in the final relegation spot.

Crystal Palace team news

Matheus Franca and Adam Wharton look set to be Palace’s only confirmed injury absentee for this game as things stand. There are doubts over Joel Ward, Chadi Riad and Eberechi Ee though. Daniel Munoz is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.

Arsenal team news

Ben White is a long-term absentee, while Takehiro Tomiyasu is also out due to injury. Arsenal will be hoping for better news surrounding Declan Rice, who is currently rated at 50/50 to play a part.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal head-to-head

Arsenal have won each of their past four league games against Crystal Palace, after a shock 3-0 defeat in April 2002. This is the third time the Gunners have won at least four league games in a row against Palace.
