Brighton vs Chelsea prediction, stats, tips & team news

It’s an all-Premier League clash in the fourth round of the FA Cup as Brighton host Chelsea at the Amex Stadium on Saturday 8th February at 8pm. These two sides have built up a bit of a rivalry in recent seasons with Chelsea often shopping at Brighton. The latest instalment will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV4.

Chelsea to Win & Both Teams to Score (27/10 with Betfair)

Brighton have only won one of their last 11 home matches against Chelsea and have lost the last four consecutive meetings with the Blues. The Seagulls have been inconsistent of late, and so have Chelsea. However, Chelsea were much improved against West Ham on Monday, and they hold a magnificent record in this competition, having progressed from 25 of their last 27 FA Cup fourth-round ties. This game could become a bit of a shootout with two attack-minded teams and taking the visitors to win and both teams to score looks a nice way into the markets.

Cole Palmer to Score 2+ Goals (9/1 with Paddy Power)

When these two teams met in September, Cole Palmer set a new Premier League record of being the only player to ever score four goals in the first half of a game. The 22-year-old has 14 goals in total this season and with other firms pricing this bet closer to 6/1, the 9/1 Power Price with Paddy Power looks worth a few quid.

How both teams go into Brighton vs Chelsea

Brighton have two FA Cup semi-final appearances in the past six seasons (not including 2024-25), and they’ve made it past the fourth round in two more campaigns. The Seagulls have had an interesting season under Fabian Hurzeler so far, struggling for any real consistency. But they’ll hope a good cup run could inspire them in the second half of the campaign. The Seagulls thrashed Championship side Norwich City 0-4 in the third round.

Chelsea may look to the FA Cup to turn their season around. The Blues are still very much in the race for Champions League football, but they’ve endured a bit of a winter slump. There was a six-game period in late December and early January in which Chelsea’s only win came in the FA Cup against League Two strugglers Morecambe. Chelsea have reached at least the semi-finals of the FA Cup in six of the past eight seasons, losing at that stage against Manchester City last year.

Brighton team news

James Milner, Ferdi Kadioglu, Igor Julio and Solly March are all confirmed absentees. Mats Wieffer, Carlos Baleba and Yasin Ayari will all be assessed before kick-off.

Chelsea team news

Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia will all still be out for Chelsea. Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu both picked up knocks against West Ham on Monday and will most likely sit this one out.

Brighton vs Chelsea head-to-head

After going unbeaten in five games, including two wins, Brighton have lost their past four matches against Chelsea. The Blues have taken the four games by an aggregate score of 10-5.
