How both teams go into Belgium vs Italy

Belgium are in a precarious position. With two games left of the 2024-25 Uefa Nations League the Red Devils have a fight to avoid relegation. In the new format, the bottom side in the four-team group are automatically relegated to League B, but the third-placed side must now also face a play-off. Belgium currently occupy that position having won just one of their opening four games. To make matters worse, they sit five points behind second-placed France, so this is a must win.

Things are a lot better for Italy. They need just one point from their final two games to seal qualification to the quarter-finals. The Azzurri have won three and drawn one of their four games so far, only dropping points against Belgium. But with the new format, qualification is practically secured. They’ll still want to take top spot, though, to have a favourable position in the draw for the quarter-finals which takes place in November.
