Arsenal vs Liverpool prediction, stats, tips & team news

There’s another clash at the top of the Premier League table when Arsenal host Liverpool on the final weekend of October.

After their win over Chelsea last time out, Liverpool will be out to extend their lead at the top of the table by beating an injury-hit Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Robertson over 0.5 tackles, Konate over 0.5 fouls, Salah over 0.5 shots – 10/11 Bet365

There are some key battles on Sunday that I have my eye on, which could have a huge influence on who comes out on top (if anyone).

The inclusion of starboy Bukayo Saka will be pivotal for Arsenal on that right flank and will see him up against the feisty Scot in Andy Robertson.

Now, the Liverpool left back isn’t the biggest tackler the Premier League has ever seen, but he’s certainly consistent at sticking a foot in, even more so in the big games. Twenty five of his last thirty starts (playing 45+) have seen him register at least one tackle or more. His last three games have seen him pick up seven tackles, three v Chelsea at the weekend and two in each game for Scotland.

Konate has been on a bit of a rampage lately, fouling in seven of his last eight games for Liverpool, going into the book a whopping five times in that spell. Things don’t get any easier Sunday as he will find himself in plenty of duels with Arsenal’s Kai Havertz who is great for holding onto the ball and drawing fouls. The German has drawn fourteen fouls this season and with Konates aggressive defending, I fancy him to hit the deck at some point on Sunday.

Adding the reliable Mohamed Salah to this builder gets it to a nice and backable price at 10/11.

The Egyptian has managed at least one shot in all but one of his Premier League starts across this season, AND last. In thirty-one of those thirty-six matches he managed at least two shots and backing him to register at least one here looks pretty likely.

Correct Score: 0-0 (12/1 with William Hill)

This isn’t my typical style of bet, but this game is an incredibly tough one to call. Tipping a 0-0 in the biggest game of the weekend, or even the month, will be frowned upon by many – what an awful bet to watch.

Arsenal without their rock at the back in Saliba will potentially increase their negativity to press as high, which would be risky leaving the likes of Nunez or Diaz space in behind, players that thrive in open space. Watching Arsenal over these past weeks has seen a shift in mentality, often resorting to dropping in behind the ball and being incredibly hard to break down.

Welcoming the best defence in the league to the Emirates instantly makes it a tough task. Although a much easier opening schedule for Arne Slot’s men, they have only concede three goals in the Premier League this season and only one goal in three Champions League outings. A low scoring affair looks likely and backing 0-0 or 1-0 either way could be the way to go.

This is a match between an unstoppable force and an immovable object. A team perfect on the road vs a team on a good unbeaten home run. Arsenal are also unbeaten in their past four league games against Liverpool. But the Gunners have conceded in each of their past three home games.

The Gunners went into the October international break having snuck ahead as favourites for the Premier League title, but that is no longer the case following last weekend’s defeat to Bournemouth. That was Mikel Arteta’s side’s first defeat of the season in any competition although they have been held to draws by Manchester City, Brighton and Atalanta.

Arsenal did at least return to winning ways in the Champions League in midweek although they needed a first-half own goal to secure three points with a less than convincing 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Liverpool have tasted defeat this season, beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest at Anfield. But that’s the only league game in which Arne Slot’s side have dropped points. It’s a fast start that sees the Reds top of the table, and they’ll be hoping to strengthen their position with a big result at the Emirates.

The Reds turned in their strongest performance of the campaign so far last weekend as they beat Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield and having followed that up with an away win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League they make the trip to the capital full of confidence this weekend.

Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 27th October at 4:30pm.

Arsenal team news

Arsenal’s injury list is looking long right now and matters weren’t helped by William Saliba’s red card at Bournemouth last week. He misses out through suspension on Sunday.

Jurrien Timber and Bukayo Saka are expected to pass late fitness tests but that may not be the case for Riccardo Calafiori who was withdrawn in the second-half of the win over Shakhtar Donetsk. Martin Odegaard is still a few weeks away.

Liverpool team news

Alisson is the biggest absentee for Liverpool, out until the end of November with a hamstring injury. Caoimhin Kelleher will deputise between the sticks.

Harvey Elliott and Diogo Jota are both unlikely to make a return to the matchday squad just yet.
