Arsenal vs Aston Villa prediction, stats, tips and team news

Arsenal and Aston Villa go head-to-head in the Premier League on Saturday, 18th January, at 5:30pm (UK time). The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event. Our man Anthony Eadson is in the tipping hot seat and has previewed the action and provided us with his best bets.

Martin Odegaard Anytime Assist (27/10 with 7Bet)

With Gabriel Jesus suffering an ACL injury and Bukayo Saka also on the treatment table, even more impetus will be on Martin Odegaard to provide in the final third for Arsenal over the next couple of months.

Since his first start following his return from injury against Chelsea in November, Martin Ødegaard has created 42 chances in all competitions, almost twice as many as any other Arsenal player (Declan Rice, 23). 14 of these have come in his last two games alone (10 vs Man Utd, 4 vs Tottenham).

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 13 Premier League home games (W10 D3) since a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa last April and Odegaard makes appeal in the anytime assist market at 27/10 with 7Bet.

Gabriel & Ollie Watkins to Score (22/1 with 7Bet)

It’s no secret that Arsenal are incredibly dangerous from set-pieces. Since the start of last season, The Gunners have scored more goals from corners than any other side in Europe’s top-five leagues. Gabriel has been their main threat aerially and he has five goals in all competitions this season and has recorded seven shots across his last three matches.

Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins has been involved in 98 goals (68 goals, 30 assists) in 167 Premier League games, with only Gabriel Agbonlahor reaching triple figures for the club in the competition (108). Meanwhile, Watkins has only netted more top-flight goals against Brighton (7) than against Arsenal (5), with three of his five against the Gunners coming at the Emirates Stadium. Combining both Watkins and Gabriel to find the net on Saturday pays 22/1 via the 7Bet Bet Builder feature.

How both teams go into Arsenal vs Aston Villa

Arsenal came out 2-1 winners in the North London derby on Wednesday and are four points behind leaders Liverpool heading into the weekend, although Arteta’s men have played one game more. This clash with Villa marks a run of six matches in 18 games for Arsenal, which could very much dictate their season, key Champions League clashes and a League Cup semi-final second leg on the horizon.

Villa ended a two-game winless run with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leicester City to start their 2025. Unai Emery’s men have been a little inconsistent in recent months, but followed that win up with a 2-1 triumph over West Ham in the FA Cup last weekend. Villa then ruined David Moyes’ homecoming at Goodison Park on Wednesday as they ran out 1-0 winners and they now sit seventh in the table, just three points off fourth.

Arsenal team news

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri are both missing for this match, while Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are both also likely to miss out. Riccardo Calafiori is facing a race against time to recover from a muscular problem.

Aston Villa team news

John McGinn is out until next month, while Pau Torres, Ross Barkley and Diego Carlos are all expected to miss the trip to the capital. Donyell Malen could make his debut for the club, but is only expected to make the substitutes bench.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa head-to-head

Arsenal won 2-0 at Villa Park earlier this season, but only after Aston Villa did the double over them last season.
