The Ligue 1 side left Germany with a slim advantage to take home to France after beating the Bundesliga leaders 3-2 at the Allianz Arena. Goals fro. Kylian Mbappe and Marquinhos provided Mauricio Pochettino’s side with three huge away goals to take into their second leg at the Parc des Princes Stadium.
The Parisians will have revenge on their minds after suffering Champions League final defeat to Bayern last season. The Germans edged a tight 1-0 affair to lift their fifth Champions League trophy, however, they will have to come from behind on Tuesday if they hope to keep their hopes alive of retaining their European crown.
Bayern’s star man, Robert Lewandowski, will still be unavailable for the trip to France but it is still unclear whether Pochettino will have Marquinhos in his side with the Brazilian defender being pulled off before half time in the first-leg through injury.
PSG continued from where they left off on Wednesday with an emphatic 4-1 win against Strasbourg on the weekend. However, Hansi Flick’s side dropped points late on in their home game against Union Berlin which allowed RB Leipzig to close the gap on the leaders to just five points.
PSG vs Bayern Munich: Match Stats
Bayern looked extremely vulnerable to PSG’s counter-attack last week and with the Parisians carrying three away goals into the second-leg it could be a case of Pochettino’s side soaking up the German’s pressure and waiting for the perfect chance to counter-attack. Flick’s side have now only been able to keep a clean sheet in two of their last 11 games across all competitions.
Mbappe once again was the star of the show – as he was in Barcelona. The 22-year-old added another goal to his name on the weekend to take his Ligue 1 tally up to 21 goals in 27 appearances. His Champions League tally is just as impressive with the Frenchman netting eight goals in his eight appearances.
