With just three fixtures left to play across Monday and Tuesday night, Gameweek 37 has already delivered plenty of drama at both ends of the Premier League table.
Aston Villa confirmed Champions League football with an entertaining 4-2 win over Liverpool on Friday night, while Manchester United edged past Nottingham Forest in a five-goal thriller at Old Trafford. Newcastle also strengthened their position with a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened West Ham, Sunderland stunned Everton away from home, and Leeds snatched a late win against Brighton.
Attention now turns to the final three matches of the gameweek, with Arsenal looking to take another huge step towards the title when they host Burnley on Monday night. Manchester City travel to Bournemouth on Tuesday knowing they can’t afford any slip-ups in the race at the top, before Chelsea and Tottenham close out the round in a London derby that could still have major implications for both.
Arsenal vs Burnley – Monday 18th May – 8:00pm
Arsenal will look to take another significant step towards the title when they welcome Burnley to the Emirates on Monday night. The Clarets are expected to adopt a defensive approach in the capital, but that may do little to slow down the Gunners, who have won 39 of their last 44 matches against newly-promoted sides and remain unbeaten across that run. Mikel Arteta’s men should have enough quality to secure a routine victory and move within touching distance of glory by the end of the evening.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Burnley (11/2 with London Bet)
Bournemouth vs Man City – Tuesday 19th May – 7:30pm
This matchup sees two sides in excellent form this calendar year, and it promises to be a major test of City’s character in the fiercely competitive title race. Pep Guardiola’s men secured their second domestic trophy of the season with victory at Wembley, while the Cherries sit just five points behind City in the annual standings despite having played a game fewer. It should be a closely fought contest, but the visitors are still expected to come out on top.
Prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Man City (7/1 with London Bet)
Chelsea vs Tottenham – Tuesday 19th May – 8:15pm
West Ham’s 3-1 defeat has handed Spurs a valuable opportunity, with victory at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday enough to guarantee their Premier League survival. It will be far from straightforward though, as their intense London rivals would relish the chance to pile pressure back on Tottenham with a result here. Despite another defeat at Wembley, the Blues showed enough quality in their performance to suggest they can take advantage of Spurs’ vulnerable defence on the road.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham (10/1 with London Bet)
