Norway marked make their long-awaited return to the World Cup in 2026 with a 4-1 win over Iraq in their opening game.
Landslaget haven’t qualified for the World Cup since 1998, where they reached the Round of 16 but they will be back on the world stage in North America after a stellar qualifying campaign.
With tougher games against Senegal and France still to come, they’ll be glad to have started the campaign with a comfortable win over Iraq.
Norway odds to win the World Cup
Norway are among the middle pack when it comes to their odds to win the World Cup, currently sitting at around the 33/1 mark with most bookmakers. There is no real historical data to go on, with Norway not playing the competition in almost 30 years.
That appearance in 1998 equalled their best ever finish at a World Cup, with the nation also reaching the Round of 16 in 1938, while they were eliminated at the Group Stage in 1994.
Their odds could be cut after that win over Iraq, although France’s performance against Senegal has increased sentiment around their chances too.

Norway have a really good chance of making out of Group I, especially with the new format potentially seeing three teams qualify from the group. It’ll be tough for them to win the group, with France the overwhelming favourites to come out on top, but a 4-1 win over Iraq in their opening match pretty much confirms their progress to the Round of 32.
