We’re almost ready for the 2025/26 Championship season, the relegation battle looks to be a tight one.
Of course, everyone will want to be looking up the table towards the Premier League but for some clubs they’ll be looking over their shoulders at League One.
The question is, who will be involved in the battle, and how likely are they go be relegated come the end of the season?

Who could be relegated from the Championship?
Sheffield Wednesday
It’s not been a good summer for Sheffield Wednesday off the pitch, with severe financial problems hampering the side. That has led to them to be odds on favourites to be relegated to League One next season. It’s unclear at this point which players will be available for the Owls but, whoever lines up for them, it could be a long season for Sheffield Wednesday.

Oxford United
Oxford exceeded all expectations last season, escaping the drop and remaining in the Championship for at least another season. Things aren’t expected to get better for them though, with most bookies placing them as second favourites to go down.
Charlton Athletic
There were some eyebrows raised last season when Charlton won the playoffs in League One and that has led to plenty of people speculating that the Addicks will go straight back down to the third tier. There will be plenty for Charlton to overcome but with Nathan Jones in charge, they’ll have the best chance possible to stay in the Championship.
Outsiders
There are a host of teams who could also feature in the Championship relegation battle with Hull City, QPR and Portsmouth all tipped to be fighting against the drop.
A downturn in form from any of those clubs could see them drop in trouble and they aren’t the only ones that the bookies fear could find themselves near the foot of the table. Preston, Blackburn and Derby, amongst others, could well find themselves in a relegation battle next season.
