Croatia arrived at the 2026 World Cup looking to continue their excellent record in the competition.
This is the seventh World Cup Croatia have qualified for out of eight tournaments since they became a Fifa member.
And during that time, they’ve pulled off some remarkable runs for such a small and young nation, reaching the semi-finals and finishing third in 1998 and last time out in 2022, while also making the final in 2018 — beating England in the semi-finals before losing 4-2 to France in the final.
Croatia eased to qualification this time round, finishing top of Group L with seven wins and a draw from eight matches, a goalless draw in the Czech Republic in their hardest match of the campaign the only blemish on their record.
