After missing out in Qatar fours year ago, Colombia are enjoying a great start at the World Cup finals in 2026.
Colombia secured a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan, with star man Luis Diaz one of the names on the scoresheet, as the winger helped his country go top in Group K.
And they remained at the top after defeating DR Congo 1-0, still two points ahead of Portugal.
They have reached the knockout stages in each of their last two World Cups, making a huge impression in 2014 when they topped their group with maximum points, then reached the quarter-finals, where they narrowly succumbed to host nation Brazil.
Colombia reached the last-16 in 2018, but then missed out in 2022. However, they have enjoyed a change of fortunes under manager Nestor Lorenzo, who guided them to the 2024 Copa America final, where reigning world champions Argentina beat them in extra time.

Colombia odds to win the World Cup
At the time of writing, Colombia are considered as outsiders at 50/1 to go all the way this summer.
Their World Cup pedigree generally falls short of the main contenders, with this tournament set to mark only their seventh appearance at the finals.
The six previous campaigns have yielded just three progressions beyond the group stage, with their best performance coming in Brazil 12 years ago.
What they do have in their favour is the fact they will be well-suited to the extreme heat that could await the 48 nations in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Bookmakers are offering odds of 50/1 for them to go all the way to glory.
Colombia odds to win Group K
The drawplaced Colombia in Group K alongside reigning UEFA Nations League winners Portugal, whose 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo will likely lead their charge for the final time.
Colombia claimed a 3-1 win over debutants Uzbekistan in their first game and backed it up against DR Congo with a narrow yet dominant victory – more than what Portugal managed against the Leopards.
Lorenzo’s side will certainly be confident of progressing from the group, and it is likely to be a battle with Portugal for top spot.
The attacking quality at their disposal seems to make Roberto Martinez’s team favourites to top the group following the head-to-head encounter set to happen. However, Colombia are sure to make it interesting.
Colombia stage of elimination odds
Colombia are already beyond a surprise group stage exit, having guaranteed a spot in the knockout stage.
A second-place finish could put them up against Croatia in the last 32 and, if so, Spain could await in the last 16, with an exit at the latter stage available at 11/4.

Colombia World Cup top goalscorer odds
Luis Diaz carries Colombia’s greatest attacking threat, and scored in the 3-1 win over Uzbekistan, which saw his Golden Boot odds cut from 50/1 to around the 33/1 mark.
Though they went back up after the DR Congo match and are now at 100/1 – as well as Luis Suarez’s.
