Colombia have advanced to the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup after beating Ghana 1-0 in the round of 32.
Nestor Lorenzo’s side opened their campaign with a confident win over Uzbekistan before following that up with another strong performance to beat DR Congo and put themselves in a commanding position in the group. A hard-fought draw with Portugal in their final game was enough to seal top spot, with Colombia finishing two points above the Portuguese.
It has been a controlled and disciplined showing from Lorenzo’s side, blending attacking quality with defensive structure at key moments, and they now move into the knockout rounds full of confidence.
Having now beat Ghana, they have a great chance to reach the quarter finals as they take on a well-matched Switzerland side in the round of 16.
Colombia odds to win the World Cup
At the time of writing, Colombia have dropped from 50/1 outsiders to 25/1 after their impressive end to the group phase and a win over Ghana in the round of 16.
They have a favourable tie against Switzerland in the next round. While el Nati are by no means a minnow, this seems to be a well-matched tie which may be part of the reason why Cafeteros’ odds have come in so dramatically.
Colombia World Cup top goalscorer odds
Luis Diaz carries Colombia’s greatest attacking threat, and scored in the 3-1 win over Uzbekistan, which saw his Golden Boot odds cut from 50/1 to around the 33/1 mark.
However, the form of players like Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi has monopolised the Golden Boot race and the former Liverpool man is now out at about 500/1 to finish as top scorer at this World Cup.
