Belgium are taking part in their 15th World Cup this summer, but face a battle to progress to the knockout stages.
Rudi Garcia is the man navigating Belgium through a period of transition, but they still boast a core of high-quality experienced players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois and Romelu Lukaku – who are each looking to shine in what could be their final World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Premier League duo of Jeremy Doku and Leandro Trossard add pace, creativity, and cutting edge from the flanks.
None of the aforementioned players have truly lit up the tournament yet, though, with the Red Devils’ opening two matches bringing two draws and just one goal scored.

Belgium odds to win the World Cup
Punters could initially back Belgium at as long as 50/1 to win the World Cup for the first time in their history, which placed them approximately 11th in the outright odds table alongside Colombia, and some distance behind the favoured European trio of Spain, England, and France.
Belgium came closest in 2018, when they finished third. But they endured a torrid and toxic campaign four years ago in Qatar. The Red Devils were placed in Group G alongside seven-time AFCON champions Egypt, as well as Iran and Oceania qualifiers New Zealand.
The majority of bookmakers priced Belgium as the firm 4/9 favourites to top the group – something they achieved in both 2018 and 2014. Bookmakers priced them as short as 1/66 to qualify from the group stage.
Many saw Egypt as Belgium’s main challengers due to possessing the tools to hurt the Europeans through the likes of Mo Salah and Omar Marmoush. The Pharaohs have subsequently usurped them to become group favourites after their difficult start to the finals.

Romelu Lukaku is yet to reclaim form and fitness in 2026 after missing the second chunk of 2025 through injury. No player from the country has found the back of the net more times at the World Cup, but he has certainly been lacking sharpness thus far.
Belgium’s starting 11 brims with attacking talent. Leandro Trossard has enjoyed an excellent season for Arsenal, Jeremy Doku has dazzled at times for Manchester City, and Kevin De Bruyne brings the nous and experience.
All of them will be hoping to click into gear before it is too late for their nation.
