Gameweek 4 delivered plenty of drama, controversy and, as ever, a plethora of Premier League stats.
Arsenal and Manchester City maintained their perfect winning starts, while five clubs are still waiting for their first win of the season – two of whom are yet to even find the back of the net.
From derby day records and winning streaks to goal droughts and shocking starts, here are the best Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 4.

Manchester United 0-1 Manchester City
- Erling Haaland (9 goals) has moved ahead of Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney (both 8) as the new outright leading scorer in Premier League Manchester derbies.
Manchester City became the first away side in Premier League history to win 10 Premier League games against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Erling Haaland’s controversial winner was his ninth Premier League goal against Man Utd. This now puts him one clear of Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney (both 8) as the new outright leading scorer in Premier League Manchester derbies.
As for Man United, four points from four games represents their worst start to a season since 1992/93.

Sunderland 0-2 Arsenal
- Arsenal have won nine successive Premier League matches for the first time since 2004.
Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Sunderland was their ninth consecutive Premier League victory. This represents the club’s longest winning league run since March 2004.
The Gunners have recorded four wins from their opening four Premier League games for only the fourth time after 2003/04, 2004/05, and 2022/23.
Mikel Arteta’s side now sit top of the table, level on points with Man City.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton
- Tottenham have failed to score in their opening four games of a single season for the first time in their entire history.
Tottenham’s sorry Premier League stats streak continued after they played out a goalless draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time in 140 Premier League games.
Two points from four games represents goalless Tottenham’s worst Premier League start since 2008. In the process they have set an unwanted new club record of failing to score in any of their opening four games of a single season for the first time in their entire history.
Meanwhile, Everton’s Jordan Pickford became the fifth English goalkeeper to accumulate 100 Premier League clean sheets. He joins David James (166), David Seaman (135), Nigel Martyn (131), and Joe Hart (127) at this keeper-exclusive table.

Chelsea 2-2 Hull City
- Chelsea have conceded in 20 consecutive league games for the first time in 65 years.
Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Hull City extended their unwanted run of conceding in 20 consecutive Premier League games.
It’s the Blues’ longest run without a league clean sheet in a whopping 65 years. Up next they face Brentford, who were the last team they prevented from scoring back on 17th January.
Hull have now picked up eight points from their opening four matches. It’s the third best start from a newly promoted club after Nottingham Forest in 1994/95 and Bolton in 2001/02 (both 10 points).
Liverpool 0-0 Fulham
- Liverpool have failed to win either of their opening two league home games for only the third time in 63 years.
Liverpool were held to a frustrating goalless draw at home to Fulham. The visitors picked up their first point under manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who previously played for the Reds between 2007 and 2009.
It’s only the third time in 63 seasons that Liverpool have failed to win either of their first two home league games (2003/04 & 2012/13). It’s also the first time that they’ve ever drawn both.
Including last season, Liverpool have now drawn four successive league matches at Anfield for the first time since 2011.
Coventry City 0-5 Brighton
- Coventry City became only the fifth club in top-flight history to lose each of their opening four matches.
Coventry City were thrashed 5-0 at home to Brighton. This leaves Frank Lampard’s troops as the only club yet to pick up a point at the foot of the table.
The Sky Blues also became only the fifth club in top-flight history to lose each of their opening four matches of a campaign without scoring, after Derby (1899/1900), Stoke (1906/07), Preston in (1924/25), and Crystal Palace (2017/18).
Coventry have now lost 46 straight Premier League games in which they conceded first. This sorry streak stretches all the way back to March 1999.
Brighton are now the highest scoring side (13) in the Premier League this season and Pascal Groß is the first ever player to provide 50 Premier League assists for the Seagulls.

Aston Villa 1-2 Nottingham Forest
- Nottingham Forest claimed their first victory at Villa Park in 32 years.
Aston Villa scored a Premier League goal for the first time this season. However, they still sunk to a 2-1 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest. This result leaves Unai Emery’s side winless down in 19th.
Igor Jesus’ 88th-minute winner gave the Tricky Trees their first victory at Villa Park in 32 years. Not only that, but it secured Oliver Glasner his first league win as Forest head coach.
Crystal Palace 2-3 Ipswich Town
- Ipswich Town won a Premier League game after conceding the opening goal for the first time in 25 years.
Ipswich Town have now failed to keep a clean sheet in 23 consecutive Premier League games. But, they won’t mind, as they did claim a last-gasp 3-2 win away to Crystal Palace.
Ipswich have now won two of their last four Premier League games, more than in their previous 19 top-flight matches (1).
It was also the first time that the Tractor Boys have won a Premier League game after conceding the opening goal since December 2001, when they beat Tottenham 2-1.
Bournemouth 2-2 Brentford
- Bournemouth have now failed to beat Brentford in any of the nine Premier League meetings between the teams (D4 L5).
Bournemouth have still yet to win a league game under Marco Rose after they played out a 2-2 draw against Brentford.
The Cherries have now drawn three of their four games this season and have shared the points 13 times in 2026.
It also extended their record of never having beaten Brentford in the Premier League. The teams have now met nine times, consisting of four draws and five Brentford wins.
