Premier League Sack Race odds: Michael Carrick 1/5 favourite to be next manager to leave

Premier League Sack Race odds have Michael Carrick as the 1/5 favourite with William Hill to be the next manager to leave his post, after Manchester United’s 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.

Carrick was 9/4 joint-favourite with Roberto De Zerbi at the start of October. Now he is odds-on with every bookmaker that prices the market, and William Hill’s 1/5 gives him an 83% chance of being the first to go.

United are 16th in the 2026/27 Premier League with one win from eight games. On top of that, they have now gone five games without a win in all competitions. Crystal Palace’s Pierre Sage is the only other manager shorter than 10/1.

There were a record 11 in-season Premier League managerial changes in 2025/26. So here are the latest Premier League Sack Race odds from William Hill, followed by a closer look at the managers under the most pressure.

Michael Carrick (Manchester United) – 1/5

Carrick’s odds have collapsed since the start of October. A 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham was followed by a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid and a 1-1 draw at Leeds.

After that came a 4-1 loss at Como in the Champions League and Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, when Old Trafford jeered at half-time and full-time. You can read our full Man Utd vs Bournemouth stats and analysis here.

Next, United go to Chelsea on Saturday at 12:30. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe is the 4/6 favourite to replace him, and you can see the full market in our next Man Utd manager odds.

Michael Carrick

Pierre Sage (Crystal Palace) – 2/1

Sage is second in the betting at 2/1. Crystal Palace have lost five of their eight league games and are 17th on seven points. Their goal difference of minus 10 is the worst in the division.

In fact, bookmakers have already opened a market on the next permanent Palace manager. Sage takes his side to Tottenham on Saturday evening, and another heavy defeat would put him under even more pressure.

Pierre Sage

Regis Le Bris (Sunderland) – 12/1

Sunderland are bottom of the table with five points from eight games, and Regis Le Bris is 12/1 with William Hill. Saturday’s trip to Coventry is a meeting of two of the bottom three. As a result, it could also hurt one of the managers further down this list.

Alvaro Arbeloa (Fulham) – 16/1

Alvaro Arbeloa has drifted from 4/1 to 16/1 since the start of October. Fulham are 15th on eight points after a slow start. However, they have moved away from the bottom three for now.

Alvaro Arbeloa

Frank Lampard (Coventry City) – 20/1

Frank Lampard guided Coventry City to the Championship title last season. However, life back in the top flight has been hard, and the Sky Blues have lost six of their eight games and are 19th.

For now, the credit Lampard earned for promotion keeps him at 20/1. Even so, Saturday’s home game against bottom side Sunderland feels like one Coventry cannot afford to lose.

Frank Lampard

Roberto De Zerbi (Tottenham) – 33/1

De Zerbi was joint-favourite at 9/4 at the start of the month. He has drifted out to 33/1 with William Hill after Tottenham Hotspur picked up two wins and climbed to 14th.
