Manchester City continued their perfect start to the 2026/27 Premier League season with victory against Ipswich Town.
It keeps them three points clear at the top of the table, ahead of Arsenal who beat Nottingham Forest to continue their bounce back. Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea complete the top four after their victories over Crystal Palace and Everton, respectively.

At the other end of the table, Fulham and Bournemouth finally got their first league wins of the season, while Sunderland‘s drop continued.
Here are the best Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 7.
Premier League stats you might have missed from Gameweek 7
Everton 0-2 Chelsea
- Chelsea are just the third team in Premier League history to score in the opening minute of the second half in consecutive matches.
Chelsea finally ended their long wait for a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Everton. It was the first time the Blues had managed to shut an opponent out in the Premier League since a 2-0 win against Brentford in January. That was the main focus of the victory, and something Chelsea will be hoping to build upon as they rise to fourth.
Pedro Neto got the Blues up and running early in the second half, as Chelsea survived a number of Everton attacks before the break. It took the Portuguese winger just 43 seconds to finish from Jorrel Hato‘s cross, a very quick start. It’s something Chelsea fans have grown accustomed to seeing. While they have a good record of scoring within the first 10 minutes of games this season, Chelsea can also start cast after the break. The Blues also scored in the first minute of the second half in their 5-1 win over Bournemouth, becoming just the third team to do so in back-to-back Premier League matches. Oldham Athletic (December 1992) and Tottenham Hotspur (May 1993) are the only other teams to achieve the feat.
Brentford 1-2 Liverpool
- Florian Wirtz‘s nine open-play chances created was the most by an away player in the Premier League since 2011.
Things might be starting to click for Florian Wirtz. The German has received a lot of criticism since his big-money move to Liverpool, struggling to find his feet in the Premier League. Even in his second season, Wirtz hasn’t showed much sign of improving. But he did have a very strong showing to help Liverpool come from behind to beat Brentford — albeit aided by the Bees eventually finishing the game with nine men.
Wirtz created nine open-play chances against Brentford, becoming the first player to do so in a Premier League game since Sadio Mane — also for Liverpool — against Burnley in January 2021. But that came at Anfield. Wirtz is the first player to create at least nine open-play chances in a Premier League away game since Samir Nasri (10) for Manchester City at White Hart Lane in August 2011. One of Wirtz’s chances created led to a goal too, setting up Victor Munoz’s equaliser to start the comeback.
Fulham 1-0 Hull
- Hull failed to have a single shot on target in a Premier League game for the first time since 2017.
Hull City had a strong start to the season, going unbeaten in their opening four league games. That included a win over Manchester United and draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. But they are also now winless in their past five games, losing two and drawing two. The Tigers have conceded seven goals across their past four games, having keep three consecutive clean sheets to start the season.
But the biggest worry this weekend was at the other end of the pitch. Although Hull also failed to score in a goalless draw with Aston Villa in September, their blank against Fulham this weekend was more damning. The Tigers failed to have a single shot on target as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage. It was the first time they’ve failed to have a shot on target in a Premier League game since May 2017, when they blanked from nine shots against Crystal Palace. This time they only managed five shots, also their second-fewest in a Premier League game since the start of the 2016/17 season.
Man City 3-2 Ipswich
- Erling Haaland reached 100 non-penalty Premier League goals faster than any other player.
A lot of the focus from Man City’s win over Ipswich Town this weekend was on Enzo Maresca. The Italian became the first Premier League manager to win his first seven games at a club, beating the record of six previously held by Carlo Ancelotti, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Pep Guardiola. Man City are also just the third team to win their first seven Premier League games in a season.
They were helped by the two goals of Erling Haaland, who continues to blow the rest of the Premier League away. Haaland’s second was his 100th non-penalty goal in the Premier League in what was his 139th game in the competition. No player has hit 100 non-penalty goals in the Premier League faster than Haaland, with Alan Shearer previously holding the record with 150 games.
Newcastle 0-1 Aston Villa
- Newcastle have failed to score in just two of their 23 Premier League home games since the start of last season — both against Aston Villa.
Matthias Jaissle is enduring a tough spell at Newcastle United right now. And fans won’t have been optimistic ahead of their game against Aston Villa at St James’ Park. Despite the Villans also struggling for form this season, they have enjoyed their recent visits to St James’ Park. And the run continued with a 1-0 win — after the 2-0 victory in January.
Those are the only Premier League home games since the start of last season in which Newcastle have failed to score. To make matters worse, Newcastle are also now 16 home games without a clean sheet across all competitions, the longest such run in their history.
Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland
- Bournemouth recorded their highest ever Expected Goals total in a single Premier League game (4.32 xG).
Marco Rose finally got his first Premier League win as a Bournemouth manager, and it was a long time coming. The Cherries beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium thanks to goals from Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson. Tavernier opened the scoring in the sixth minute and it’s become a familar sight for Bournemouth. The Englishman has now opened the scoring with 14 of his 22 goals in the Premier League. It’s the highest share of match-opening goals for any player with at least 20 in the Premier League.
Bournemouth were well worth the win too, putting in a strong attacking display. They posted 4.32 Expected Goals against Sunderland, their most in a single Premier League game. It was also just the second time they have hit at least 4.0 xG since the start of the 2016/17 season. The other occasions only came last season, with 4.05 xG in a 2-2 draw with West Ham United.
Brighton 5-0 Crystal Palace
- Brighton are just the third team to have scored at least 23 goals after the first seven games of a Premier League season.
This was a statement victory for Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton, who sit third in the Premier League. Many expected the Seagulls to get one other against their struggling rivals at the weekend, but not many would have predicted the score. Brighton were 3-0 up inside 10 minutes thanks to an own goal from Jaydee Canvot alongside strikers from Diego Gomez and Yasin Ayari. It made Brighton the 10th team to score three goals in the first 10 minutes of a Premier League game.
But Brighton also joined a more exclusive club. The Seagulls have scored 23 goals after seven games in the Premier League this season, the most in the division. It’s just the fourth time a Premier League side have scored at least 23 goals in their first seven games of a season. Brighton join Arsenal (24 in 2009/10), Manchester United (24 in 2011/12) and Man City (27 in 2019/20) in that feat. A lot of the focus will be on Diego Gomez’s goal from the weekend, scored from 51.3m out — the eighth-longest goal in the Premier League since records began in 2006/07.
Leeds 1-1 Man Utd
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored the third-most home goals in the Premier League since the start of last season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been fantastic since joining Leeds United last summer. Only four players have scored more goals in the Premier League since the start of last season than Calvert-Lewin’s 18. He notched number 18 to seal a point for Leeds against rivals Man Utd at the weekend, already his fourth of the season. All four of those goals have come at Elland Road, and that’s where Calvert-Lewin is most fruitful.
The Englishman has scored 12 of his 18 league goals since the start of last season at Elland Road. Only Erling Haaland (19 at the Etihad Stadium) and Igor Thiago (14 at the Gtech Community Stadium) have scored more home goals in the Premier League during that time. Calvert-Lewin has also scored in six of his last seven Premier League home games.
Nottingham Forest 0-1 Arsenal
- Nottingham Forest are just the fifth top-flight side to fail to score in their first four home games of a season.
Arsenal continued their comeback from defeat to Brighton with another Premier League win. This time it was a narrow victory over Nottingham Forest, their sixth out of seven in the league this season. It’s just the fourth time Arsenal have won as many as 18 points from a possible 21 in the Premier League. Noni Madueke scored the only goal of the game with what was Arsenal’s only effort on target.
On the other side of the fixture, it doesn’t look good for Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Trees had the better of the chances but seriously struggled in converting them. And that’s been true across the season so far. Nottingham Forest have now failed to score in each of their first four home league games this season. They’re just the fifth English top-flight side to experience such a poor run, after West Bromwich Albion (1921/22), Everton (1998/99), Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town (both 2018/19).
