Scotland finally ended a 28 year wait to qualify for the World Cup, but the Tartan Army look set to be exiting in the group stages.
Steve Clarke’s men got off to a perfect start at the tournament, earning a 1-0 win over Haiti in Boston thanks to John McGinn’s first-half goal.
They weren’t able to build on that win, though. The were second best through against Morocco and deservedly lost by a 1-0 scoreline in the same stadium.
And following that, they ended the group with a 3-0 loss to Brazil, meaning they finish the group on three points and needing favours from elsewhere to finish as one of the best third-placed teams.

Scotland odds to win the World Cup
At odds of around 500/1, it’s clear that the bookmakers now see Scotland’s chances of progression as minimal with a handful of group stage games still to go.

Scott McTominay, Ryan Christie and Che Adams managed two goals each in qualifying for Scotland, while the experienced midfielder John McGinn has racked up the most international goals of anyone in their squad with 20 from his 83 caps at the time of writing.
McGinn is the only man to have scored for them so far in the tournament and it doesn’t look likely at this stage that they will feature again, so don’t expect many bookmakers to even be taking bets on any Scotland players to lift the Golden Boot this summer.
