Norway are enjoying their best ever World Cup performance having already reached the quarter final stage.
They’ll be glad to have started the campaign with a comfortable win over Iraq and that was followed up by a hard-fought victory over a tricky Senegal outfit in New Jersey.
There was no shock to top the group, as Norway were beaten by France in their final game. But Stale Solbakken had clearly prioritised resting players, making 10 changes for that team.
Norway then faced Ivory Coast in their last-32 tie and manage to hold their nerve and come out 2-1 winners. That man Erling Haaland was on the scoresheet once again, bagging the winner and his fifth goal at the tournament.
Landslaget saved their best so far for the round of 16 though where yet another Erling Haaland brace saw them overcome five-time winners Brazil in New Jersey.
Norway odds to win the World Cup
After a solid group campaign and a victory over the Ivory Coast in the Round of 32, Norway have seen their odds to win the tournament trimmed. After being 33/1 before the tournament began, they were cut to around 25/1 after the win over the Elephants and the win over Brazil increased sentiment even more.
Norway are now priced at around 14/1 to win the World Cup with most firms.
Norway World Cup top goalscorer odds
There isn’t much getting past it – Norway have been reliant on the goals of Erling Haaland to determine their success at the World Cup. Potentially the best out-and-out striker in the world, Haaland is difference maker for the Scandinavian nation. After his brace in the opening game against Iraq he came in to 11/1 to earn this individual gong. However, despite scoring another two goals in his second game, the form of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi saw him drift back out to 16/1. He’s maintained that level after sitting out the third group match. He’s now back down to 6/1 thanks to his brilliantly-taken brace against Brazil. Can he keep his run going?
