The 2026/27 Premier League season is in full flow and already there are a handful of managers feeling the heat in the Sack Race.
There were a record-smashing 11 in-season Premier League managerial changes in 2025/26. Now there’s a growing feeling that it could well be only a matter of time until this season explodes into action, particularly with the international break on the horizon.
Here at Squawka, we’ve taken a look at the latest Premier League Sack Race odds from Sky Bet, before taking a closer look at the five leading candidates to be the first manager to leave.

Frank Lampard (Coventry City)
Frank Lampard is back in the Premier League after guiding Coventry City to a stunning Championship-winning campaign last season.
However, the Sky Blues have struggled to replicate that form on their return to the top-flight, with their first Premier League campaign in 25 years getting off to a nightmare start.
Coventry are yet to pick up a point or score a goal this season, making them just the fifth club in top-flight history to lose each of their opening four games without scoring.
Lampard has plenty of credit in the bank following last season’s success, but his position is already coming under pressure. Sky Bet have slashed his odds from 14/1 to 5/2, making him the new favourite to be the first managerial casualty of the season in the Premier League Sack Race.
Alvaro Arbeloa (Fulham)
Football management can be a strange game. One minute you can be shouting instructions to Kylian Mbappe and co at Real Madrid, and the next you’re taking charge at Fulham. That is no slight on the Cottagers, but it shows just how quickly things can change in the dugout.
The man in question is, of course, Alvaro Arbeloa (4/1). The Spaniard endured a poor start to his Fulham tenure, losing his first three league games so far, but has stopped the rot with a goalless draw away to his former side Liverpool.
Fulham fans will now want to see their side build on that result when they face Man United in the capital this weekend.
Michael Carrick (Manchester United)
Michael Carrick has equalled Manchester United’s worst start to a season since the inaugural 1992/93 Premier League campaign.
The Red Devils were stunned by newly promoted Hull City in their opening game before responding in emphatic fashion with a 5-2 thrashing of Ipswich. However, they were unable to build on that result, conceding a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw away at Everton. Then they lost 1-0 at home to rivals Manchester City, albeit controversially.
Carrick is now the joint-third favourite to be the next manager to leave his post after his odds were cut to 11/2. The Englishman should be afforded time, particularly given the superb job he did during the second-half of last season. Nevertheless, another poor result against Fulham would give him plenty to ponder during the upcoming international break.
Pierre Sage (Crystal Palace)
Pierre Sage, priced at 11/2, has emerged as another name under the Sack Race spotlight after losing three of his opening four league games in the Crystal Palace dugout.
There are, however, mitigating circumstances. Palace lost key defenders Maxence Lacroix and Daniel Munoz during the summer, while star forward Ismaila Sarr is yet to feature this season, and Jean-Philippe Mateta has been sidelined since the opening game.
Nevertheless, supporters will be keen to see signs that Sage is the right man to lead the club in the post-Oliver Glasner era. That is no easy act to follow, of course, but the Eagles’ defence in particular needs significant improvement, having leaked in more goals than any other Premier League side so far this season.
Roberto De Zerbi (Tottenham)
Tottenham skipped into the new season with renewed optimism following an influx of new signings, which fuelled hopes that they could challenge towards the top end of the table.
However, that positivity has quickly evaporated after a deflating start. Winless Tottenham are 17th in the table with just two points to their name. The goalless draw at home to Everton was their first in the league at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and means that they have failed to score in the opening four league games for the first time ever.
Priced at 6/1 in the betting, boss Roberto De Zerbi faces an immediate challenge to get his raft of new recruits settled and performing quickly. If results don’t improve, the pressure on the Spurs boss could build rapidly during the international break.
