Germany are four-time world champions but they don’t look much like a potential World Cup winner this time around – despite finish top of Group E.
A new era has started with Germany and their campaign got off to a flying start with a thumping win over Curacao in Houston, putting them in the driving seat in Group E.

They were far from convincing in that game however and die Mannschaft struggled even more on Matchday Three, going down 2-1 to Ecuador in New Jersey despite taking an early lead through Leroy Sane.
Germany odds to win the World Cup
Germany may be considered as slight outsiders for the World Cup. Although they are four-time winners and have been ever-present for over 70 years, recent failures have brought in doubts.
Despite their struggles, Germany remain a top side, which makes their recent failures even more surprising. Although they got the job done in the group stages, it was not a convincing performance from them and that has seen sentiment move away from a Germany trophy lift this summer.
Bookmakers now rank them at around 14/1 which is not bad at all, but few expect them to win a fifth World Cup. That price has drifted slightly from 12/1 as a result of the defeat to Ecuador.

There are odds for a host of Germany players to win the Golden Boot at the 2026 World Cup. Kai Havertz scored twice in the win over Curacao, but Deniz Undav has now reached a tally of three for the tournament. As a result, his odds decreased dramatically to 20/1 – but no goal against Ecuador has allowed his competitors to pull clear. His odds have lengthened back out to 40/1 as a result.
