France’s price to win the 2026 World Cup has shortened yet again and they’re now clear favourites to lift the trophy.
Expectations are high and the pressure is on, but despite a poor first half in their opener against Senegal, they sent out a real statement in the second half by sealing a 3-1 win in their opening game.
That was followed up by another dominant if rain-affected win over Iraq, and Les Bleus finished top of their group thanks to victory against Norway.
France have navigated their way past Sweden and Paraguay to reach the quarter-finals, where a win over Morocco in Boston saw their odds shorten once again into 6/4 with most bookmakers and even shorter in some place.

France odds to win the World Cup
France’s odds have shortened to 6/4 with the majority of bookmakers to lift the 2026 World Cup, following their four wins so far. This makes them outright favourites to be crowned champions.
Les Bleus have reached the last two World Cup finals, winning the tournament in 2018 before suffering a penalty shootout defeat to Argentina in 2022. France could become only the third country to reach three consecutive finals, while victory would secure a third World Cup title.

Kylian Mbappe has scored eight goals at the World Cup so far and is now the odds-on favourite once again to finish as the top goalscorer this summer.
Lionel Messi at 7/4 has also managed eight goals – but you’d expect Mbappe to pull even further clear given how strong France have looked in the tournament. Interestingly, Erling Haaland is on seven goals, just one behind, but is priced at 8/1 while Harry Kane is at 9/1. He’s on six goals so far.
There are a handful of other players in the running, including Ousmane Dembele. Realistically, if a France player scoops the Golden Boot, it’s going to be Mbappe.
