Egypt returned to the World Cup finals in 2026 and are already enjoying their best-ever appearance in the tournament.
The Pharaohs turned in an impressive performance against Kevin de Bruyne and company, and they followed that up by securing a first-ever win this tournament, beating New Zealand 3-1.
This will likely be a last crack at the World Cup for talisman Mohamed Salah, who turned 34 during the tournament, so he will be eager to leave his mark with his nation. He did just that with the second goal against the All Whites.
And the party goes on for Egypt, as they advanced to the knockout stages for the first time in their history. However, Salah’s participation isn’t guaranteed after he left the 1-1 draw against Iran 10 minutes into the second half and received ice treatment on his leg on the bench.

Egypt odds to win the World Cup
The Pharaohs are back at the finals after an eight-year absence, and they are certainly not regulars when it comes to football’s biggest stage.
Indeed, this will only be their fourth appearance, with Hossam Hassan’s side fresh from a fourth-placed finish at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt advanced from Group G, which shortened their odds to go all the way to 150/1 from 300/1 before matchweek 1. They will now face Australia in the Round of 32.

Egypt odds to win Group G
The Pharaohs actually went into the third game atop Group G. Even the 1-1 draw with Iran would have been enough had it not been for Belgium thrashing New Zealand 5-1 in the other fixture.
Goal difference swung in favour of the Europeans (+4 to Egypt’s +2) which set the final order.
Egypt World Cup top goalscorer odds
Mohamed Salah’s goal against New Zealand puts him just two behind current manager and all-time top scorer Hossam Hassan. Egypt have officially made the knockout rounds, meaning Salah can notch a few more goals yet should he be fit to play.
The inexperienced Mostafa Ziko has also been excellent at this tournament so far and grabbed a goal and assist against New Zealand.
