Curacao suffered a thumping 7-1 defeat to Germany in their World Cup debut but held on against Ecuador.
Little is expected of Curacao given their lack of experience at this level, but they have a clutch of players in their squad who can cause problems on their day. However, the test against a German outfit with ambitions of lifting the trophy was too much of an ask in their opening game.
Luckily for the, Eloy Room was in fine form against Ecuador and secured the nation’s first ever World Cup point. Should La Tri lose to the Europeans next week, the Blue Wave would need ‘just’ a win against Ivory Coast in order to advance. Tough task, but still a chance nonetheless.

Curacao odds to win the World Cup
Among non-eliminated nations, only Qatar are a longer bet to win the World Cup than Curacao, who have odds of 2500/1.
This is their first time at the tournament, and if they were to somehow go all the way, it would easily eclipse the greatest shocks in international tournament history, such as Greece winning Euro 2004 and Tahiti’s 2012 OFC Nations Cup triumph.
2500/1 represents just a 1% chance of winning the World Cup for Curacao, who have already gone above and beyond by simply qualifying.

Curacao odds to win Group E
Curacao can celebrate their World Cup debut with one of the toughest groups at the tournament.
The Blue Wave opened their tournament against four-time champions and European powerhouse Germany who, despite being at a low ebb in recent years, can never be discounted for a deep run into a major tournament.
After all, they did have the largest scoreline of the tournament so far at Curacao’s expense.
Alongside Die Mannschaft, Curacao will go up against Africa Cup of Nations champions Ivory Coast, after limiting an Ecuador side that finished second only to Argentina in Conmebol qualifying to a 0-0 draw.
Curacao are massive outsiders in Group E and will need a win against Ivory Coast – as well as an Ecuador loss to Germany – as an opportunity to steal an unlikely chance at qualifying for the knockouts.
