
Canada are through to the World Cup 2026 knockout stages for the first time in their history and they’ve already made it through to the Round of 16.
The co-hosts took four points from their three group games, which was enough to seal second in Group B on goal difference. Canada opened their World Cup campaign with a draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina, having to come from behind.
They beat Qatar 6-0 in their next match, a result that would prove crucial for their second-placed finish. It was a battle for top spot in Canada’s last game and they did lose that to Switzerland. But the defeat couldn’t prevent Canada from making history.
In their first ever World Cup match, a late winner Stephen Eustaquio was enough to send the Canucks through ahead of South Africa in Los Angeles. How far can they go from here?
Canada odds to win the World Cup
With their route to the Round of 16 confirmed, Canada have odds of around 250/1 to win the World Cup this summer.
They’re among the outsiders, but they’ll be hoping to go deep on their knockout stage debut. The win over South Africa, despite sending them one step closer to the trophy, hasn’t done much to increase belief in their chances of actually winning the tournament however.
