Mexico continued their 2026 World Cup adventure, overcoming Ecuador in the Round of 32.
Mexico odds to win the World Cup
Following Mexico’s Round of 32 victory, bookmakers cut their odds to win the tournament from 40/1 to 33/1.
Javier Aguirre’s team made light work of Ecuador in the Round of 32, winning 2-0 to secure their place in the last 16.
Mexico are consistent qualifiers for the World Cup. They are one of only six nations to reach the finals in every edition since 1994.
It’s their performances once there that have left something to be desired. El Tri are often the second-strongest team in the group, leading to a tough first opponent in the knock-out stages. Brazil beat them in the round of 16 in 2018, the Netherlands in 2014 and Argentina in 2010.
With the expanded version of the tournament and a group they’ll feel they have a chance of winning, the CONCACAF nation could go further this time. Winning the whole thing seems unlikely though, hence the odds of around 66/1 that are available at this time.
